We will sing along to Jolene and other timeless hits at Dolly Parton's Threads, become mesmerized by the virtuosity of pianist Stewart Goodyear and other enthralling guest soloists, feel the sweet sting of Cupid's arrow at Strings of Love for Valentine's, and dance joyously to the incomparable Angélique Kidjo.
This exciting musical array is what makes each season at your Phil so unique. The Classics include Principal Guest Conductor Karen Kamensek leading two epic concerts — Tchaikovsky's Sixth and A Sunrise Odyssey. The latter sees the return of Master of the King's Music, Errollyn Wallen, with another major premiere (following her triumphant Violin Concerto here in 2024), paired with Richard Strauss' monumental Also sprach Zarathustra. And what could be grander than the return of our friend and former Music Director, Rune Bergmann, who leads the Orchestra and Chorus for Beethoven's magnificent Ninth Symphony and works that the Calgary Phil commissioned to celebrate Beethoven's 250th!
We're also looking forward to seeing former Resident Conductor Juliane Gallant back, leading blockbuster live-to-film performances of The Grinch and Jurassic Park, plus a tribute to the music of Studio Ghibli, and other brilliant concerts.
Like the movies, Symphony Sundays for Kids are also great fun for the whole family and this season includes Canadian classic The Paper Bag Princess! We have a bountiful bonanza of Pops celebrating Bollywood, The Bee Gees, Billy Joel, Beyoncé, and other favourites.
There are so many fun and meaningful moments for us to welcome people together, and almost as many places to do so. Whether it's at our home in the Jack Singer Concert Hall, on Prince's Island for Phil in the Park, at WinSport with Troupe Vertigo's high-flying cirque, and at other stellar concerts across the city with all of our amazing partners, you'll find Calgary's Orchestra there.

Explore the strange and wondrous world of insects in this bilingual family concert with the Calgary Phil! Through Maxime Goulet's Le Carnaval des insectes, you'll discover 16 different kinds of insects, each portrayed by an instrument in the orchestra. Catch other bug-inspired musical favourites, including Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee, Grieg's Butterfly, and Vaughan Williams' Wasps. In his entertaining 99th symphony, Haydn finally gives the clarinet a seat in the orchestra.

Open Rehearsals
Available to seniors and students, Open Rehearsals offer a fascinating, behind-thescenes chance to experience a full working rehearsal. This unique opportunity is available on Friday mornings prior to select concerts throughout the season. Tickets are $20 each and must be purchased in advance. Look for the symbol on pages 24 + 25 for concerts featuring an Open Rehearsal.
Instrument Discovery Zoo
Coming to Symphony Sundays for Kids? Make sure to arrive early and explore the Instrument Discovery Zoo in the lobby. Kids of all ages have the opportunity to meet the musicians they'll see on stage, try out a variety of instruments, and even compose a tune! The fun starts at 2PM and ends just before the showtime.
