Updates on the rollout of vaccines

Filipinos starts the vaccination in various cities and provinces to ensure a COVID 19-safe country before the end of the year.

The vaccine statistics have officially been released as of May 30, 2021, from May 1, 2021 to May 30, 2021. A total of 5,180,721 doses of vaccine have been administered and 3,974,350 received their first dose.

There are also 1,206,371 individuals who received their second dose which means they are already fully vaccinated.

The average administered doses of vaccine in the last seven days is 144,402. During Week 7 only 37, 280 but it has continually increased in the

following weeks.

In week 13 a total of 1,010,816 have been administered.

1,403,647 have been vaccinated for first dose in the A1 category and 671,422 for the second dose, 1,379,946 received the first dose in the A2 category and 245,244 for the second dose.

In the A3 category 1,179,930 received the first dose and 386,670 received the second dose, In the A4 population 10,827 received the first dose and 3,035 received the second dose.

The number of the operational vaccination sites is based on the current supply of vaccines in the country. Once more vaccines arrive, the number of people to be vaccinated and vaccinated will increase. Our vaccination pace will ramp up once this happens.

Marikina Governors signs memorandum to implement Stay Safe program for faster tracking of people with Covid-19 in Marikina City.

Marikina City memorandum for faster tracking of people infected with Covid-19 Edited by CE May 3, 2021, a memorandum about Marikina City Quick Response Code was published by their Acting City Administrator.

The memorandum was made for all City Officials and Employees to implement the use of the Quick Response Code system and for faster tracking of people infected by COVID-19.

The DILG provided the Stay Safe Program guidelines to be used by all the LGU’s including Marikina City.

According to her, the registration for each department will be through their IT officer/s.

MBC & TPC DRIVE TO MariSci grabs QUALITY EDUCATION awards in Wellness Edited by CE 29 March 2021 - The Pokémon Company (TPC), with support from the Makati Business Club, has recently donated 530 tablets to 3 Marikina public elementary schools to be used by Grade 1 students. The purpose of the donation is to increase the access of Filipino children across the country, so that they may have access to quality education, especially right now during the pandemic.

Last Tuesday, the Schools Division Office (SDO) Marikina External Partnerships team, led by Mr. Reinan Ignacio, with the assistance of Mr. Gil Catuday (SDO personnel), and Mr. Eros Bulaclac (SDO personnel) collected and delivered the tablets to Malanday Elementary School, Concepcion Integrated School Elementary Level, and Fortune Elementary School.

All of the schools mentioned are said to be implementing the BasaBilang project, it is a separate project between SDO Marikina and the Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc. The BasaBilang aims to help Filipino children by improving their learning through multimedia resources. Through the videos and e-modules they have, that is why it is a must to have learning devices when doing this.

The donation is also part of the TPC Pokémon GO Fest 2020. “Following Pokémon GO Fest 2020, this program is a part of our endeavor to support nonprofit organizations around the globe to improve the lives of children with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. We sincerely hope that these tablets for distance learning can promote equal opportunity in education for children in Marikina,” TPC said.

All in all, the donations really help Filipino Children achieve their dreams. If they do not have quality education, they cannot sustain their learnings.

Campus National Level Edited by CE

MARIKINA, Philippines — Marikina Science High School (Marisci) placed 3rd and received minor and special awards in the National Level Wellness Campus of the Year Awards.

Marisci was included in the top five finalists with San Miguel High School, Sto. Niño High School, Abucay National High School, and Camarin High School.

Marisci received gold for being the “pinaka-best in dancercise” and bronze for the “pinaka-best in Module Integration” minor award.

Arvin Lark Santiago also received bronze award for being in the top three finalists as the "pinaka-best Wellness Guro of the Year", a special award. He is with John Franklin Dresser from Molugan National High School and Jeric V. Rey from Nursery High School.

After the hard work of MariSci students and teachers, the school grabs numerous awards in Wellness Campus National Level.

The wellness modules were integrated into the MAPEH Subject.

Marisci students do activities such as making a digital poster, HEALTHfies, reflective essay, a wellness vlog, and more.

Nestlé Wellness Campus and DepEd presented the “Wellness is Life” dance this February 8, 2021.

DepEd releases the Conduct of End-of School-Year (EOSY) rites Edited by CE

DepEd announces the Conduct of End-of SchoolYear (EOSY) rites for kindergarten, Grade 6, Grade 10 and 12 learners who meet the requirements at the end of the school year 2020 - 2021 and also school year 2019 - 2020 who passed the portfolio assessment in the Alternative Learning System Elementary and High School levels.

The 2021 EOSY is focusing on a theme Kalidad ng Edukasyon Lalong Patatagin sa Gitna ng Pandemya, DepED order No. 012, s 2020 states that quarter 4 will end on July 10, 2021.

Within July 12 to 16, 2021, CLC’s are given discretion to select the date for holding this year’s EOSY rites.

Given that public health and safety is deemed as topmost concern this time, schools and CLC’s are abided by applicable safety protocols.

School consultation with the PTC may choose to reschedule or postpone the activity, private schools will be guided by their school calendar.

Schools and CLCs will prepare a short program that will last less than 2 hours.

Gender Equality, The Unattainable Human Right

Harry Roque also released a statement defending Duterte. This news made a lot of netizens realize how rape culture is so normalized in our society.

Not all men are bad but not all men respect women equally. Not all men are being educated on how to properly treat a woman and that is what makes women scared. There is a stigma that women have against men, that all men are predators which makes women avoid men.

Rape culture is the result of gender inequality. It is the toleration of misogynistic acts rather than prohibiting them. Rape culture is when men treat women as objects for their satisfaction rather than treating women as equals.

Women in the early 1900s were expected to serve their husbands and to give birth to children while men were expected to be strong and be breadwinners for the family.

This is what we call patriarchy, it is what is expected for the 2 genders according to the stereotype that society has made up for them.

Gender discrimination is prejudice or discrimination based on one's sex or gender. It mainly affects women, still, it can affect anyone. Gender discrimination also draws a line on men being emotional.

Therefore, they can never showcase their emotions truly without being judged.

Gender equality is essential for economic prosperity for any society.

According to statistics, 97% of young women have been sexually harassed in the UK. These statistics show that society has normalized sexual harassment to the point it has reached the limit where it's a natural occurrence. If men respected women’s boundaries and treated them equally there wouldn’t be any victims of sexual harassment.

Sexual harassment would be stopped faster if we fight for order rather than equality. If we implemented stricter rules against malicious acts there is a chance that sexual harassment victims would stop increasing.

Order is really important in society, that is why the law is created so that we can ensure our safety and our rights as citizens.

But even with the implementation of the law people still defy it. Implementing gender equality is the implementation of mutual respect for both genders.

We all know that women are treated better now but that doesn't mean that we have accomplished gender equality.

Women are given the same rights as men such as them being given the right to vote, but still, society doesn't see women as equal to men. Women are still looked down upon.

We need to debunk these stereotypes. We need to remove these toxic mindsets that were embedded in our brains. We need to abolish the thought of defining one’s femininity or masculinity based on stereotypical traits that society made.

Inequality between both genders will never stop until we all realize that everyone is different, not everyone can fit the standards of everyone, not everyone is expected to stick to what society made them to be.

We are all made to stand out but that doesn't mean we can't all be treated equally.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, DepEd has released online learning as an alternative for face-to-face classes to avoid risking the health of the students. Online classes are something foreign to us, not everyone can keep up with this new way of teaching.

With just a little amount of time and preparation for this new way of learning, how will the students and teachers handle this situation? This way of learning is new to them and it may take more time for them to cope with this new normal.

Encountering problems during this new normal is inevitable, we need to be more considerate and patient with the teachers' and students' situation.

Even before the pandemic there has been a problem with how schools are too far from rural areas such as mountains or islands.

People who live in these areas have no access to the internet resulting in them being left behind in their education.

There is a limit to what teachers can teach when time is limited and is only teaching through a screen. There is a sense of disconnection between students and teachers since they cannot meet up in real life to help students with their lessons.

Some teachers don't have the materials to teach while some don't have an idea on how to facilitate online classes because they are not used to it. Teachers may encounter technical problems that they cannot control leading them to not be able to teach in class.

It will take a lot of funds for the government to support the needs of the people for everyone to be able to attend classes. It will take a toll on our remaining budget that is being reserved for COVID-19 vaccines and COVID-19 tests.

We should prioritize making a solution for the concerns of the people especially when there is no certainty that everything will go back to normal. We should be prepared in case that there will still be no face-to-face classes next school year so that no one will be left behind.

Students have been starting a movement asking for an academic freeze but is it really a good idea to stop?

We should take in mind that the teachers will also be affected if we take a break from the school year, how will the teachers get their income without classes.

Let's start advocating academic ease that will have a more flexible plan so that everyone can attend their classes during this pandemic. DepEd should give a more wellprepared plan for next school year, they should find an alternative for online classes so that everyone will be given a chance to attend school.

We should stop being oblivious about this issue, stop being ignorant and open our eyes to this issue. As time passes, more children are being left behind in their education, we should not risk their chance of getting a good future because they deserve better.

What keeps us going? Do you know what it is? Actually, there are so many answers for that question, for some it could be their family, friends, or even their dreams and life goals could keep a person going.

But with our situation right now you could be asking yourself “Should I still keep going? Will the pain, struggles and oh so many sleepless nights be worth it?” Well all I can say is that you should continue and keep going on with your life, dreams and plans for the future. Our life does not stop now because we are humans, and we also get old.

We should be able to get the most out of life and be able to fully enjoy it.

When the pandemic started, we were all on lockdown. That is when I realized that this is like a test for us humans, we must keep on going.

During the lockdown, a lot of things have changed but some looked at the bigger picture.

The bigger picture. It means that despite the circumstance you still find a way to make it better. And that is what we did, the most common example is the online class and the work from home. We found a way to still be able to learn and work without going outside is proof that we kept going.

During the lockdown, a lot of people experienced depression and illnesses. I really hope that they could get through it, these illnesses are not a joke. It is not just “kaartehan” as other people say.

Just keep going and eventually you will be able to conquer it. Just remember that a lot of people are willing to listen to you without any judgement.

There were many times in which I almost gave up, but luckily, I kept going and I went on. Due to the stressful school work because we were almost graduating that time and I also had personal problems during those days.

You would be glad that you hang in there and you could just tell the memories of the past and all the struggles that you were able to overcome to your children. Time flies fast and you might not have noticed it but as it flies things change and we are able to witness that change.

But of course, there are still things that we fear just like the COVID19 and unfortunately some people were affected by the illness.

But it makes me tear up whenever I see that they have survived it and they are now healthy. I also feel happy for those who chose to be vaccinated because they are hoping for a better future and they kept going for it.

Just like what I said there are a lot of reasons to keep going, but if you ask me what the reason is and why I am still going it is because of my dreams and goals and also for my family who are always there for me. They gave me everything and I hope one day I will be able to give them everything too.

As the Fourth Quarter started, Bam Adebayo led the way for the Heat to try and make a final run, 35-19, but LeBron James clutched up, as he stopped the Heat in their tracks and eventually win the championship.

The Heat put up a good fight as they pushed the Favorites (Lakers) to 6 Games which was unexpected to both the media and to the fans.

The Heat were still a close second as they were named the 2020 Eastern Conference Champions.

LeBron James was named the Player of the Game, and he also was awarded his 4th Finals MVP; he also took home his 4th Bill Russell Finals MVP Award.
