From the Headmaster In the 2023/24 academic year, we began our partnership with the Royal National Children’s Springboard Foundation which has further enhanced our ability to identify boys from areas of socioeconomic deprivation, extending the reach and transformative power of our bursary offering.

In addition to our bursary program, your support made possible the advancement of a pivotal piece of our Masterplan - the Sports Pavilion Plus Project. This transformative project represents our commitment to nurturing wellrounded individuals who excel both in the classroom and on the playing field. For those of you who supported the Sports Pavilion Plus Project, you have contributed to the development of resilient, successful individuals who will make a positive mark on the world.

In this report, in addition to facts and figures, you will find stories of lives transformed and achievements unlocked through the support of people like you. It is a celebration of what we have achieved together and a reminder of the powerful role our community plays in shaping the future of Caldicott and its boys.

Each contribution made plays a crucial role in helping us deliver these unparalleled opportunities within an exceptional learning environment. From the Director of Development

As we reflect on the past year, I am filled with immense gratitude at the remarkable strides we have made together.

Our total fundraising revenue reached £2,640,729 in the 2023/24 fiscal year - a true testament to the unwavering support and generosity of our community.

As many of you know, the Caldicott Foundation was established in November 2020 with two primary goals; to invest in capital projects that will transform our school for future generations and to provide transformational bursaries for talented boys whose families might otherwise be unable to afford a Caldicott education. I am delighted to report that for both of these strands of work, we made significant progress in the period reported herein.

Our commitment to providing life-changing opportunities through the Bursary Fund remains steadfast.

In the 2023/24 fiscal year, our Bursary Fund has raised over £100,000 thanks to the incredible generosity of so many of you. To those who have supported the Bursary Fund, your contributions will be profoundly impactful and through your support, we are funding two new transformational bursaries in the 2024/25 academic year, which is in addition to the many bursaries that will be funded directly by the school.

These young boys, who we proudly call Foundation Scholars, embody the values and aspirations of our school. We are so thrilled to be able to welcome these boys and we take seriously our moral obligation to continue to support these boys moving forward.

Significant progress has also been made on our capital projects, particularly with the completion of our comprehensive master plan designed to future proof our school, seamlessly integrating our academic ambitions into our plans for state-of-the-art facilities. To those of you who have so kindly contributed to our capital projects this year, I am deeply thankful for your support. A very special thanks goes to those who have gone above and beyond and have given leadership gifts to the Sports Pavilion Project for which your investment has been absolutely critical.

To bolster our annual fund, we have also just launched a regular giving group called the 1904 Society. Named after the year we were founded

by J Heald-Jenkins, the 1904 Society recognises regular donors who pledge regular monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, or yearly donations. Our 1904 Society members will help to provide Caldicott with a more predictable stream of funds that enable the school to plan effectively for the future.

By facilitating mentorship relationships and providing career advice, these initiatives aim to create a robust network that supports our alumni in their career paths and personal growth, thereby strengthening the lifelong bond they have with Caldicott. The introduction of Caldicott Connect is a way to ensure our alumni continue to benefit from their association with our school long after they leave us.

As we reflect on the achievements of this past year, I extend my sincerest thanks to our dedicated parents, alumni, governors, staff, and supporters. Your unwavering generosity and commitment have made a profound impact on the lives of our students and to the future of Caldicott.

Together, we are building a legacy of opportunity and excellence for generations to come.

Additionally, we focused our efforts on improving alumni engagement through our Caldicott Connect platform. Recognising the importance of a strong and connected alumni network, we will soon be formally introducing several key enhancements, such as the Careers and Mentorship modules. These modules will be designed to foster greater connections and professional development opportunities within our alumni community.

Over £2.6m Donated We are deeply grateful to our supporters for the depth of their support. We are proud to report that in our 2023/24 fiscal year, we received support from 65 donors, raising a total of £2,640,729.

Proportions of Donors The 65 donors who supported the Caldicott Foundation were comprised of 15 Old Caldicotians, 29 past parents and 21 current parents. In other words, 23% of the donations came from OCs, 32% came from current parents, and 45% came from former parents.

The Bursary Fund At Caldicott, we believe that every boy, regardless of their background, should have the opportunity to benefit from our exceptional educational offering. We take pride in fostering an environment in which every talented student has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their financial circumstances. In the coming years, the Caldicott Foundation is committed to making an even bigger impact in our community.

The Buildings Fund The Caldicott Foundation has created a Masterplan in support of the strategic vision of the school which will sensitively reimagine our site over many years. We recognise the importance of state-of-theart facilities in enhancing the educational experience, and these projects are geared towards ensuring that we are equipped to meet the evolving needs of our students and faculty.

General Support Fund A gift towards general support will be directed where the Caldicott Foundation needs it most, whilst still serving our core charitable aims. Our ambitions are an extension of the values we hold dear and the impact of your support stretches far beyond the school gates. As we strive to make a difference in the lives of young boys, we hope to play our part in shaping a better future. We invite you to join us on this inspiring journey.

The Caldicott Bursary Fund Investing in education for a brighter future

We are deeply grateful to all donors to the Caldicott Bursary Fund for their remarkable generosity. Thanks to your support, the funds raised during the 2023/24 fiscal year will directly enable two talented Foundation Scholars to join jo us in the 2024/25 academic year. These boys will have access ac to the transformational education, values, and opportunities nities that lie at the heart of Caldicott.

Looking to the future, we aspire to deepen this impact impact by expanding our ability to offer bursaries to more deserving rving boys. Our longer-term goal is to fund five Foundation Scholars annually, ensuring that exceptional young boys oys with great potential, regardless of their circumstances, can thrive at Caldicott.

Greg’s Story Greg Fisilau, OC 2014-2016 joined Caldicott in Year 6 from a comprehensive school in Oxford.

Whilst not unfamiliar to the rugby pitch, in his time at Caldicott, Greg was able to hone his natural rugby talent with the support of our topnotch coaching provision, which in turn supported his overall growth.

Academically, he was able to make great strides forward in his time here, helping him to secure a place at St Edward’s, Oxford. Caldicott is proud to have given Greg an invaluable stepping stone into his professional rugby career, where he currently plays for Exeter Wasps and has made his England debut in the 2022 U20 6 Nations.

While I was at Caldicott, we had a rugby team full of naturally talented players in every position, but I believe the reason we were able to be as successful as we were is because of the quality within the coaching staff. This was not just the case with rugby but something I noticed with all sports coaches and teachers. They were people who truly cared for the wellbeing of all boys and did everything they could to ensure that we pupils would leave as more mature and knowledgeable versions of ourselves.

It was great to meet new people who shared similar interests with me, but also helped me to discover and learn new things about myself. Looking back on it, it was an incredibly fun experience that taught me so many things and I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity to attend such a fine school.”

Mosese’s Story Mosese Tuliakiono, OC 2019-2022 joined Caldicott in Year 6 after attending a comprehensive school in Pontypool, Wales. At Caldicott, he flourished both academically and personally, developing his abilities and forming lasting friendships. Our supportive environment and dedicated teachers were crucial in helping Mosese unlock his potential. Now, he continues to shine at Radley College, where he has been awarded a prestigious Keys Award, an all-inclusive scholarship.

Parents of a former Foundation Scholar “During the past two years at Caldicott, our child has experienced remarkable growth, particularly in the realm of music. Under the expert guidance and unwavering support from Mr. Paget, the music director, Mr. Stratton, the violin teacher, and Mr. Murray, the piano teacher, his musical abilities have flourished impressively. These dedicated educators have nurtured his talents, allowing him to achieve levels of proficiency we had not anticipated.

The nurturing environment and personalised attention at Caldicott have been instrumental in this transformation. Although his time at Caldicott was relatively brief, the impact it has had on his musical journey is profound. Whilst we are proud to have supported so many boys in the past, there is more work to be done.

Going from state school to one of the best preparatory schools in the country will never be a smooth transition because of the different standards of education. Standards that have proven to be significantly higher. Proving to be a competitive environment all around. One thing that stands out to me is the school’s emphasis on good manners and personal responsibility. Something that I am very proud to see reflected in my son’s behaviour. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the members of the staff especially in this regard.

My son has achieved so many personal goals during his time in Caldicott both academically and in sports. All of this made possible as a result of him being awarded with a Scholarship to

Radley College. His first choice of Senior School, and a great choice at that. Whilst at the school he has had the opportunity to grow in his personal life too, making several friends sure to remain in touch for a lifetime. He talks of the sense of honour and pride calling himself an “Old Caldicotian” brings.

I have no doubt that being a bursary recipient has increased his chances to be successful in life.

It has provided him with opportunities that would have otherwise been unreachable, we are both extremely grateful for everything so far.

Our architect has designed a building that is sensitive to our natural surroundings, ensuring that the visual impact of the structure is minimal. With this in mind, our architect has designed this building so that the major mass of the structure is located largely below ground – very much like an iceberg. The building footprint is approximately 667 square metres or 7200 square feet.

The Caldicott Buildings Fund The Sports Pavilion Project

At Caldicott, we aim to foster excellence in educatio education, character development, and athletics for all. The new Sports Pavilion seamlessly aaligns with these goals, providing a dedicated space for physical education, sp sports training, and characterbuilding. Thank you to all those who have already suppor supported or pledged their support to the project.

Furthermore, the new Sports Pavilion is the inaugural iinitiative in our comprehensive Masterplan, strategically designed to el elevate Caldicott to new heights. This pioneering project is the cornerstone st strategic vision, creating a harmonious environment for the holistic development of ou our students.
