Lamborghini Urus Performante

By Dustin Troyan

When Lamborghini entered the SUV market, many purists were upset. They thought that the brand known for being hyperexotic was lessening the exclusivity it is known for and entering into a more “normal” segment that Lamborghini has simply never been in. The brand known for being over the top, with hard edges, pushing to the extreme in every possible way... what were they thinking?

The Lamborghini Urus was an over-the-top success. In 2021, Automobili Lamborghini recorded its best sales results ever, with 8,405 cars delivered worldwide with the Urus leading the deliveries. We purists were wrong, and once again, Lamborghini forged forward and elevated a segment to a new stratosphere. Enter the Urus Performante. The Urus Performante is the most exclusive model in the Urus line-up. With a whopping 667 horsepower, a 0-62 MPH in 3.3 seconds, and a top speed of 190 mph, this is definitely a supercar...er, a super SUV. Well done, Lamborghini. You nailed it.

From Lamborghini:

“The Urus Performante takes the supreme performance and distinctive looks of Lamborghini’s ground-breaking super SUV to the next level, retaining its luxurious versatility and delivering the most engaging driving experience: not only on road but in every environment, distinguished through an alluring design that denotes new benchmarks for driving dynamism in what is already a remarkable car,” says Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO. “The Urus set a new standard at its launch, taking Lamborghini’s design DNA and technological talent and delivering the world’s first super SUV for a new era. The Urus Performante sets the bar even higher for the SUV segment.” For more information, visit lamborghini.com. n

The Kevin Cordasco Foundation: Something Yellow is committed to raising awareness and much-needed funds to benefit the many heroes of childhood cancer. The inspiration for this organization, Kevin Arthur Cordasco, was a remarkable Calabasas 16-year-old who bravely fought a nearly seven-year battle with neuroblastoma. While March 11th, 2023, marks the sad 10th anniversary of his death, it also marks the 10th anniversary of the foundation named in his honor.

Kevin's journey became much more difficult very early on when he and his family found out that he was nonresponsive to traditional treatments. Kevin became an experimental candidate for a study called Metaiodobenzylguanidine Treatment (MIBG). This compound treatment for high-risk neuroblastoma patients was only available in a few places in the country, one being San Francisco Children's Hospital, where he underwent treatment. Although this treatment did not save his life, Kevin and the other children in the study pioneered and made it possible for this treatment to save lives of kids 10 years later.

In February 2013, while receiving the "Citizen of the Year" award from the city of Calabasas, young Kevin said, "I hope that one day I can give back what's been given to me and to other kids and families battling cancer.” This February, his most fervent wish came to fruition when the Kevin Cordasco Foundation: Something Yellow awarded a grant in the amount of $100,000 to Children's Hospital Los Angeles to be designated for a new MIBG patient and treatment room.

The funds will be used for the purchase of medical equipment and other specific equipment needed to maintain this special new room. Now kids and families will not have to travel to San Francisco or half way across the country to receive this cutting edge, life-saving treatment. This February, Children’s Hospital celebrated, revealing that the name of this room will be The Kevin Cordasco Foundation Patient and Treatment Room! The name and dedication could not be more perfect. n
