On Sunday, January 29, the two communities of Shomrei Torah Synagogue and Temple Aliyah joined together and participated in dozens of activities to create a positive difference for those in need. Multi-generational families participated in the annual Mitzvah Day, where everyone engaged in activities of their choice. The many projects and activities supported a number of nonprofit organizations, including Pups Without Borders; LAJHealth; Sharsheret, an organization that supports the Jewish breast and ovarian cancer community; Save A Child's Heart; the Guadalupe Center; the Family Rescue Center; the Salvation Army; JFS Project Hope; Bundles of Kindness; Suits for Success; and the Shoes That Fit organization. Volunteers donated blood to the American Red Cross, while others spruced up the garden at Shomrei Torah Synagogue. Richard Camras is the senior rabbi at Shomrei Torah Synagogue in West Hills. Rabbi Stuart Vogel is the senior rabbi at Temple Aliyah in Woodland Hills. Maeva Carter and Carol Levin co-chaired the annual event.
