MAYOR DAVID SHAPIRO TAKES OATH OF OFFICE

The City of Calabasas held its reorganization of the city council on December 14th to certify the results of the general municipal election held on November 8, 2022. After a moving invocation by Rabbi Eli Freedman and some general council announcements, David Shapiro took his oath of office for his third term as mayor of the City of Calabasas since joining the city council in 2013. The meeting at city hall was filled to capacity, but residents were also able to watch a live stream on CTV Channel 3 or participate by joining a Zoom teleconference. The meeting included a fond farewell to Mayor Mary Sue Maurer, who served the community for 17 years. Councilmember Alicia Weintraub was installed as mayor pro tem and long-serving Councilmember James Bozajian also was sworn in to begin his seventh term in office. The newly elected Ed Albrecht took the oath of office and began his first, four-year term. Also attending was Peter Kraut, who also serves on the council.
