ILLUSTRATION & GRAPHIC DESIGN

BEST IN SHOW

Illustration & Graphic Design

My name is Cal Heath (she/her) and I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. It was a natural fit for me to go to Art School and major in Drawing after High School. I then became fascinated by design and completed an Advanced Diploma i n Art Craft and Design (Jewellery). 8 years ago, I upskilled with a Diploma of Graphic Design from TasTAFE and I’ve been freelancing in my own illustration and graphic design busi ness called “Best in Show” ever since.

I have a solid background in art and design and am particularly passionate about making drawings inspired by our natural environment. I’m endlessly fascinated by the amazing animals and plants around us - they constantly spark ideas for greeting cards, wrapping paper, and other eco-products. In my business, I keep things as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible. I always use compostable, plant based cellophane, print on recycled card, and stick to organic cotton fabrics. It’s important to me to keep my carbon footprint low and to create products that do good, not harm.

The following pages show some examples of my recent Illustration work. I use an iPad and Procreate, as well the Adobe Creative Suite to produce my work. You can also see what I’ve been up to by having a look at my website ( www.calheath.com ) and Instragram ( @calewag ).
