As a typical street in Shanghai's old city center, there are many shops alone Xinle Road attracting many visitors. However, there are lack of other facilities within the immidiate urban envirnment. As a result, especially during the evening, shops can not attract enough business during evening rush hours, therefore losing revenue. How to attract more people to this street in the evening ? How to create a good atmosphere not only for shopkeepers but also for citizens during these hours?

In order to attract people in the golden time from 19:00 to 22:00 , there are some strategies pointing to different kinds of people, especially young people, who prefer spend money on shopping and entertainment. The fuctions in the street will be improved in shopping, food & drinks, entertainment and roads & sidewalks.

1. Young people from who are night owls like to drink in the bar. There are still some chairs and desks in the street so that they can easily gather together, drink together and communicate with each other.

2. Young people who ride bikes to the street in the evening now can park their bikes or the shared bikes in the bicycle parking lot. Also, for whom want to go home by bike, they can search for shared bikes in the bicycle parking lot.

3. Now people can sit down near the windows and have a rest.

4. After a whole day's work, the office workers choose to stay in the street cinema. Families will enhoy the comedy and spend a good time with their children. A single man may meet his future wife while watching movies. The couple will love each other more and more after watching a romantic movie. Children will be happy to see the cartoon in the cinema.

5. With the improvement of the streets, there are more people passing this street. Thus, there are more people to get into the luxury clothing stores. The shopkeepers are so busy that they want to expand their business hours to earn more money.

6. When a family go shopping in the shopping mall, the father and his son get tired and want to have some places to rest and have a drink. Here they can sit down and order for two cups of tea and wait for the mother.

7. After finishing homework, students and children like to play in the basketball court. Playing baketball can help children to make new friends and do physical exercise while competing with others, Their parents also willingly allow them to go to the street and paticipate in a basketball games with their peers.

8.A couple is attracted by the light ground. The wife dance with the change of lights.

9.Children play together on the light ground. They like to spend time evening here. Lots of them make friends here.

10. At prime time in the evening, the single office workers and sellers in the clothing stores can buy their dinner from the vendor carts. Moreover, they can eat at the desk set up on the street.

11. Previously people thought that the wall of the hotel at the end of street was so ugly and closed. They doesn't even want to walk on the side of the pedestrain. But now the blocked wall of the hotel is soften and replaced by grass and tall trees. The family can sit in the chiar and the children can play in the grassland.

12. As a landmark buildings of the street, the church will turn on the exterior light. People passing by will be curious and get inside the street. People who want to find the street will easily get into the street after see the landmark. Furthermore, the people who are tired of walking can sit down outside the church and have a rest.

13. The lanes are decrease in the design. But cars can still pass smoothly because there are not too much car in the street. Although the car speed may slow down, the walkers' sense of safety will increase as well.
