I’m proud to say that I am a Professional Community Association Manager (PCAM)! I decided to pursue this designation for a couple of reasons: 1) I am continuously in pursuit of education, and 2) I wanted to obtain the designation that shows my commitment to excellence and professionalism in community association management. I am passionate about this industry and obtaining this designation is evidence of it. The PCAM behind my name reveals that I am knowledgeable and have the skillset needed to make a positive difference for the communities I serve.

I went into my endeavor to obtain the PCAM designation thinking that it would be a piece of cake since the process looked simple upon reading the requirements. Instead, I found the case study to be stressful and challenging. Stressful because I had only thirty (30) days to apply all of my education and experience into accurately answering the questions of the case study. It was challenging because of the time commitment involved in researching, writing, and annotating. It was like I was writing my Master’s thesis all over again, but instead of a year to work on it, I had a month.

After I turned in my case study, I anxiously awaited the results. I checked my email constantly, hoping to see the outcome. I was like a child at Christmas in eager anticipation of opening my gifts. The day I received the email that I received the PCAM designation was like receiving that toy that I really wanted for Christmas. It was an exhilarating feeling! I am so glad that I went through this process to obtain my PCAM designation. Overall, it was a rewarding and eye-opening process. I highly recommend it to all management professionals who are in pursuit of industry excellence.
