Samai lives with his family in a small village UK in Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone
Sierra Leone is a beautiful country with green mountains and waterfalls.
Sierra Leone is also one of the poorest countries in the world.
For six months of the year it is very difficult to find food.
CAFOD showed families in the area how to grow crops on unused land.
My family now grows rice.
We can now eat during difficult times in the year.
We can sell any extra rice and use the money to pay for me to go to my school.
When I am older I want to be a bank manager or a teacher.
What do you want to do when you grow up?
Things to think about… • Why is school important? • What has changed for Samai and his family? • How do you think they feel?
