50th Anniversary Mass
In January 2012, CAFOD celebrated 50 years of our work with a Mass in Westminster Cathedral. Pictures of some of the inspirational people who have played a part in our history, like Davi Yanomami (above), an environmental leader from Brazil, were displayed during the service.
Director, Chris Bain, said the Mass was “a way to give thanks to God for the grace which has enabled us to achieve so much and seek God’s blessing on all we do in the future.”
Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Vincent Nichols.
“CAFOD’s work is founded on the gospel. As we commit ourselves to the next 50 years, let every effort, decision and intention be made in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Bishop John Arnold.
Margaret Mwaniki, a CAFOD board member, came from Kenya to be with us on the day. She said: “I’m honoured to see the people behind CAFOD – the parishioners. I know that you’ve done a lot of work to help the poorest people have a better life.”
Thank you to everyone who made our 50th Anniversary Mass a day to remember. cafod.org.uk/ccccc Photographs by Simon Rawles
