CBSUA-SIPOCOT Launches Online Job and Career Fair

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture- Sipocot, in collaborative efforts with the Office of Student Affairs and Services, chaired by Prof. Charmayn N. Nate, the Guidance and Counsel Unit, chaired by Prof. Rhea B. Abergos, and the Job Placement Unit, organized an Online Job and Career Fair for all 4th-year students on June 8, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. via Google Meet.

CBSUA – Sipocot undergo 2-day program quality assessment

Upholding its core values in satisfying requirements and standards in continual improvement of management system and programs, CBSUA – Sipocot colleges and new program offered underwent 2-day quality assessment of the following: College of Criminology, College of Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science (BSES), and Bachelor of Science in Agro Forestry.
On the first day, the Regional Quality Assessment Team from CHED ROV assessed the curriculum, laboratories and standard requirements in the College of Criminology as well as College of Information Technology.
Prof. Charmayn N. Nate, the Coordinator, Office of Student Affairs and Services, opened the session with welcoming words. It was followed by a description of the activity’s rationale by Prof. Ian L. Sagario, ILDO Coordinator. Prof. Zeus M. Lositano, Campus Administrator of the CBSUA-Sipocot Campus, also delivered an uplifting and motivating message.
The first part of the fair was designed for CBSUA students to interact with alumni that were already successful. The first resource speaker that gave his inspirational messages and tips was PLT Leonard B. Fiesta, a graduate of BS Criminology, Batch 2015, and currently working on Intelligence Group in Cebu City. Another resource speaker is Alvin S. Arevalo, a graduate of BS Information Technology, Batch 2010, and now working in BDO SM City, Antipolo, as a Senior Travelling Teller. Another resource speaker is Ernesto C. Baliza Jr., a BS Industrial Technology major in Electronics graduate, Batch 2019, and currently working at STMicroelectronics Inc. at Calamba Laguna. The resource speaker is Carlo A. Dasco, a BSED Major in Mathematics graduate, Batch 2018, and currently working as Teacher I in San Isidro National High School, San Isidro, Libmanan, Camarines Sur. Following each resource speaker’s presentation, an open forum was held in which students were allowed to clarify and ask questions that would assist them in applying for and finding a job.
The second part of the program is the Virtual Job Fair, which brings together recruiters and job seekers in Google to exchange information about job posts. Students had the opportunity to apply for jobs at three different agencies: Pipols Synergy Management Service Inc, where they were interviewed by Rudelyn B Angeles from the HR Department; STMicroelectronics Inc., where they were interviewed by Jovy P. Ordonia, an HR specialist; and Argus Security/ Argus Manpower Agency, where they were interviewed by Willem Breech Hui, Administrative/ Liason Officer.
As the pandemic spreads around the country, online jobs and career fairs have emerged as viable options for students looking to advance their careers in a manner comparable to in-person job fairs. This CBSUA-SIPOCOT initiative connects employers and new graduates. This enables students to pursue a career that will have a significant impact on their future.
Present on the evaluation are Prof. Zeus M. Lositaňo, Campus Administrator; Mr. Gerry A. Bongalos, Dean, College of Criminology; Mr. Joseph V. Penaño, Chairperson, College of Criminology and CHED Assessors, Dr. Jean E. Cardiño and Dr. Michael B. Mallari. Tips on improvement and development of curriculum by partnering IT program in creating a disaster responsive education and application of drone not just in mapping but also for disaster immediate response were given by the evaluators.
Similarly, the same evaluation was given to the College of Information Technology, Prof. Dennis C. Gabon, Dean, together with Alicia M. Nieto, MIT, and evaluator of the program.
On the second day, key officials of the University namely, Alberto N. Naperi, DPA, SUC President IV, Dr. Aries O. Ativo, Director, Research Division, Dr. Celerino B. Llesol, Campus Administrator – Pili Campus, Prof. Zeus M. Lositaño, Campus Administrator Sipocot Campus, Prof. Tessie T. Resurreccion, Coordinator, Curricular Reforms and Development, and Dr. Grace L. Negrete, Chaiperson, BSAF & BSES, and Prof. Odelio C. Macinas, NSTP Coodinator were with the evaluators.
The second day of the RQAT evaluated the proposed curriculum of the new program under College of Arts and Natural Resources, BS in Agro Forestry, and BS in Environmental Science under the College of Arts and Sciences. Included in the evaluation was the National Service and Training Program (NSTP).
The evaluators were Dr. Rusty G. Abanto, and Dr. Manuel C. Mendoza, RQAT; Alicia M. Nieto, MIT, Dr. Jean E. Cardiño and Dr. Michael B. Mallari, ES II.
The aim of the assessment is to ensure the University’s commitment for continuous improvement of its services to meet the challenges of a world-class educational institution.
Spearheads Webinar On Empowering Journalism In The Face Of The New Normal

In the face of the New Normal, the College Artisans Bulletin recognizes the urgent need to cultivate journalists that are responsible and media and information literate. With this, The College Artisans Bulletin spearheaded a webinar entitled PAGHABI: Webinar on Empowering Journalism in Face of the New Normal with the theme, “Ako at ang Paghabi ng Makabuluhan, Praktikal at Responsableng Balita at Kwento para sa Kabatiran ng Mamamayan sa Gitna ng Pandemya,” on March 24, 2021, at 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.
Renowned reporter of the Philippine Daily Inquirer and 2017 Ninoy and Cory Aquino Leadership awardee for Journalism, Mr. Melvin C. Gascon graced the event. He shared his expertise in talking over News Writing which he perceives as a reliable way of disseminating information in this time of the COVID-19 pandemic. “Get it right, Get it fast, and Give accurate information,” he emphasized. Furthermore, he identified some challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to Campus Journalists which includes constraints of the lockdown and travel restrictions, safety limitations, showing behind the scenes content, difficulty to obtain details and understand the decision made by government officials, as well as Adaptation and Translation of Medical Language or Use of Jargons. Moreover, he also gave tips that campus journalists were now called to do. These involve helping to organize and support events for large audiences, building connection and collaboration, promoting an inclusive news ecosystem, developing networks of freelancers and local journalists, helping build the capacity of journalists, and maintaining their watchdog functions in highlighting key trends to remain credible.
The webinar was participated by the different School publications from the different campuses of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, different Student Publication of the four colleges, and English major students of CBSUA-Sipocot. Likewise, student journalists were also encouraged to participate in the said webinar which was held via google meet and was streamed live on the Official Facebook Page- The College Artisans Bulletin.

“The task of journalists all over the world is to ensure that all the data and information about this health crisis are correct and reliable,” the event ended with this gentle reminder from the OIC of the College Artisans Bulletin, Ms. Shiela B. Mañares. Also, she humbly acknowledged all the people and organizations who have been part of the success of the event. In general, the first webinar event of the College Artisans Bulletin ended with great takeaways from the speaker and also from the participants.
OSAS and Guidance and Counseling Office Hold a Webinar on Alcohol and Substance Abuse in Time of Pandemic
The CBSUA-Sipocot Guidance and Counseling Office together with the Office of the Students Affairs and Services administered an Online ReOrientation Activity and Webinar on Alcohol and Substance Abuse in Time of Pandemic on February 23, 2021, from 8:30-11:30 AM.
Students from second year to third year were encouraged to attend and participate in the said webinar held via Google Meet and Facebook live.
