INTRODUCTION

The Coalition for Conservation (C4C) stands as a prominent Australian environmental organisation, fostering close collaborations with legislators, think tanks, businesses, and industry representatives, both within Australia and on the international stage. Our primary mission is to promote effective climate policies and encourage global cooperation in tackling environmental issues.

At the core of C4C's principles are free-market and market-based solutions that facilitate emissions reduction and safeguard the environment. We firmly believe that by advancing these solutions, we can create a positive impact on our planet's well-being.

C4C takes pride in organising a series of engaging events that focus on climate and environmental topics. Notably, we led a delegation of Australian MPs to participate in crucial global conferences, such as COP26 in Glasgow and COP27 in Egypt. These efforts exemplify our dedication to actively contributing to the global dialogue on climate change.

To amplify our impact, we have partnered with like-minded international organisations like the UK Conservative Environment Network (CEN), Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES), Clearpath, the International Energy Agency (IEA), the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency, and the American Conservation Foundation amongst others. Message From The Ceo

Dear distinguished guests,

On behalf of the Coalition for Conservation (C4C), I'd like to extend a heartfelt welcome to all of you attending our Conference, ICC 2023.

Last year, we were honoured to host Rt Hon David Cameron, and this year, it is a privilege to host another distinguished international guest speaker, The Rt Hon Sir Alok Sharma, UK COP26 President. Our journey with the UK Conservatives has been a remarkable one, as C4C has forged close collaboration with them over the past five years. This enduring partnership has fostered strong support among our legislators, a testament to the value of shared goals and visions. It is through invaluable gatherings like this that we consolidate our relationship, engaging in open discussions to share challenges and explore mutual opportunities for growth and progress.

In these critical times, it is of utmost importance to prioritise sensible policymaking that aligns with our environmental credentials. As we strive to meet imminent targets and fortify our food and energy security, and supply independence, the need for collaboration between policy and industry has become more pronounced than ever.

The ICC 2023 conference stands as a pivotal platform, fostering invaluable networking opportunities among industry professionals, experts and policymakers. We aim to provide unique gateways for our leaders to remain at the vanguard of innovation, acquainting themselves with the latest solutions and recommended pathways. Over the next two days, we anticipate your active participation in insightful discussions and the forging of meaningful connections.

By lending your support to ICC 2023, you play a pivotal role in accelerating our collective journey towards a safer, cleaner and greener future for all. Your valuable contributions are instrumental in shaping the trajectory of positive change that we aspire to achieve.

I would like to express our gratitude to our sponsors, the Trevor and Judith St Baker Family Foundation, for their invaluable support in making this conference a reality. I’d also like to extend our appreciation to the following organizations and individuals whose ongoing support has been vital to us: the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Howarth Foundation, Environmental Leadership Australia, David Paradice AO, and the Menzies Research Centre.

Thank you all for joining us, and I look forward to the rich tapestry of ideas and perspectives that will be woven during our time together.

Warm regards,

Cris Talacko
