C3SC's Living Wage Anniversary

A year has passed since we last confirmed our commitment to the Living Wage movement! The real living wage is the only hourly pay rate based on the true cost of living. It is independently calculated each year based on living costs and accredited employers choose to go further by paying all their staff, including subcontracted staff, a real Living Wage. At the heart of the Living Wage movement is the simple idea that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay. But there is still a gap between the amount all employers have to pay by law and the real Living Wage that meets the cost of living. That’s why thousands of UK employers have voluntarily committed to going further – because it’s fair. The real Living Wage recognises that under 25s have the same living costs as everyone else. There is a London rate reflecting the higher living costs in the capital. The London and UK rates are independently calculated every year and announced during Living Wage Week in November. If you would like to find out more about the Living Wage and Accreditation, or if you have experienced challenges with signing up or accrediting, click here.

Digital Volunteer Scheme

C3SC is developing and rolling out a digital volunteer scheme. Almost 30 years after the launch of the World Wide Web, many people are still excluded from digital services. They still lack the digital skills that will motivate them to connect, make full use of online services with confidence, and be able to access other opportunities offered by the internet. Digitally excluded people are often the most reliant on health and social care services, and risk being left behind in the digital health revolution. Digitally excluded people tend to be older, have a learning disability, long-term health condition/s, lower educational attainment and/or low income. Welsh speakers and people who do not use English as their first language can also experience more barriers. With this in mind C3SC, working with Dewis Cymru, is delighted to support people to gain digital skills. Our digital volunteering opportunity is designed for individuals with digital know-how who are looking for opportunities to provide support and give back to their communities. You will get to: Put something back into the community Get free training Get useful transferable skills that can help you find work or get into higher learning We will support you in making the connections by matching you with a community organisation where your help is needed. (in collaboration with Digital Communities Wales). If you think this is something you would like to get involved in, please contact us at enquiries@c3sc.org.uk or for more info, click here.
