Welcome to the February edition of C3SC’s members’ newsletter. We recognise we are still operating in a challenging environment, and having seen the way that communities and sectors have come together to respond to the pandemic and ongoing challenges, we think now is a good time to evaluate how we embed collaborative, citizen-focussed approaches to respond to needs and make positive changes in people’s live. We are consulting on the development of a Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) Strategy for Cardiff, and have been holding a series of thematic focus groups. More workshops will be taking place in March - see the Newsletter for dates and booking details. We are also inviting you to be part of a conversation with us so that we can ensure we continue to deliver information and services that are tailored to the advice and support needs to help support the development and sharing of knowledge and confidence in the local sector- see our article on how we want to make sure we are ‘Listening to You’ to understand your views and priorities. Like many of our members, our workplaces have become increasingly flexible over the last couple of years, and we are delighted that following our move to our new offices in Butetown Community Centre, Loudoun Square, CF10 5JA, from 2022 we will be working on a hybrid basis, and our offices will be open for drop-in from 10 am to 4 pm Mondays to Fridays to support you - to volunteer, take on volunteers and to manage and organise your groups and organisations sustainably. We have also moved our membership renewal process on-line – using our exciting new membership portal. In other news, we introduce our new projects and staff helping us to respond to the increasing demands we have seen for advice, training, and support with funding, governance and other matters. You can visit our website www.c3sc.org.uk for information, tools and to peruse a summary of our Annual Review which outlines what we’ve done in the past year supporting volunteering and community action with thanks to our members and partners for your support and the increasing trust you are placing in us. It’s a privilege to be a part of your journey, and we look forward to working with you over the forthcoming year to improve wellbeing, strengthen resilience and make even more positive differences in the lives of local people and communities.

C3SC Online Networking Lunch Event C3SC hosted its first World of Work webinar at the end of January providing a great opportunity for community organisations to link up with employers to network and discuss both challenges and opportunities in the post-Covid job market. 5 major employers attended and held conversations with community leaders and partner organisations. Feedback received about C3SC’s plans for connecting community members and groups to employers was very encouraging – including comments such as “Contributions today further underline that there are opportunities in each sector with trade bodies and businesses being proactive in trying to attract and maintain staff” and “This event was both shocking but inspirational that the needs of young people are being acknowledged and some positive changes are now being driven forward by forward thinking employers.” For more information, including opportunities, updates and next steps, click here.

Help to Name the Former Chapel at Cardiff Royal Infirmary (CRI) As part of the RPB Continuous Engagement Programme, C3SC partnered with ProMo-Cymru to engage with the community to help find a new name for the former CHAPEL at CRI; though this process we engaged with 5 local community groups, and over 170 community members . We were delighted to learn the official opening of Capel I Bawb at Cardiff Royal Infirmary will take place on the 17th March. You can read the full report here. “We would like to thank C3SC and ProMo-Cymru for helping us to make sure that the name of this much-loved building will connect its past as a Chapel to its future as a core part of the community.” - Cardiff and Vale Regional Partnership Board
