SCHENECTADY COUNTY WINS APPROVAL TO EXPAND RECREATIONAL FACILITY (SCRF)

C2 is providing architectural design services for an expansion and addition to the existing Schenectady County Recreational Facility (SCRF).

The expansion includes the addition of 4,660 square feet of space for four new locker rooms, an additional changing room, expanded restroom facilities, and a new and larger front entrance. It also includes a new exterior modern façade, a new room for activities, and extends the parking lot approximately 30 spaces.

Located at the County Airport in the Town of Glenville, SCRF currently supports more than a dozen youth hockey association teams, several adult hockey leagues, and two high school teams. The rink hosts hundreds of hockey games every year and offers a wide range of programs from ice skating to hockey, including learn-toskate programs and introduction to hockey.

The County’s Recreational Facility will be renamed the “Schenectady County Ray Wemple Memorial Rink” to recognize Mr. Wemple’s years of service as the Vice President of the Schenectady Youth Hockey Association (SYHA) and commitment to the rink. Ray Wemple retired from the Schenectady Police Department in 1989 and was a long time Schenectady County employee.

C2 ATTENDED CAPITAL REGION CANSTRUCTION AWARDS CEREMONY

C2 was honored as the top fundraiser as a Hunger Heroes team at the Capital Region CANstruction awards night held at Apex Entertainment in Crossgates Mall.

The CANstruction Hunger Heroes Food and Fund Drive is an annual competition that runs in conjunction with Capital Region CANstruction. The Hunger Heroes program invites teams of all shapes and sizes to collect food and funds to benefit The Food Pantries for the Capital District and is the official kickoff to Capital Region CANstruction! It provides everyone with an opportunity to be a part of the significant impact of our regional event and all food and funds raised contribute towards the CANstruction totals.

The C2 team raised $2,000 and collected non-perishable food to benefit The Food Pantries for the Capital District. The award was presented by Capital Region CANstruction president, Jill Shorter to C2 principal, Michael Roman.

PrimoHoagies | Latham, NY

C2 is providing architectural design services for the fit-up of the first PrimoHoagies in the Capital Region The shop will open at 1210 Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham in the Plaza 7 Commons

New Convenience Store | Cairo, NY

C2 is pleased to be the architect for a new, 10,000 +/-SF convenience store with a retail tenant space, and a gas station located at Northwest Corner of State Route 23 and Ross Ruland Road in the Town of Cairo, NY.

Duo at the Dunes | Albany, NY

C2 is the architect of record for the renovation of the former Italian American Community Center located in Albany, NY. The space will be converted into the new home of 2Shea Catering and will be called Duo at the Dunes. The 4,500 SF event space can accommodate up to 300 guests for the growing company.

C2 PLAYED IN IIDA GOLF TOURNAMENT

C2 team members enjoyed a perfect day at Eagle Crest Golf Club for the 2nd annual IIDA NY chapter golf tournament.

Deanna and Makenna assisted in the planning efforts leading up to the tournament as board members for the local IIDA Albany city center.

This year's theme was luau attire. Proceeds from the golf tournament benefited Whiskers Animal Benevolent League.

C2 Design Group welcomed Sarah Magid and Julie Swenson

Sarah will be working as an architectural designer She brings over five years of experience working on a mix of residential and commercial projects

Julie joined C2 as office manager on Monday, August 21 She brings over 5 years of experience working in construction adjacent industries

Today, C2 has a staff of 14 dedicated team members of which five are licensed professionals

C2 RETURNED AS JUDGES FOR SENIOR PROJECT AT SCHALMONT CSD

Architectural designers Trey Graham and Deanna Campchero, WELL AP, had previously presented to students in Mrs. Stearn’s civil/architecture class from Schalmont Central School District. The class had completed a unit on residential architecture and was learning more about commercial architecture.

Recently, C2 staff returned to serve as judges for the final project.

Students worked in groups to design plans for a 30-acre parcel, proposing developments such as parks, a sports complex, a paintball facility, a skate park and family-centered community areas.

Congratulations to all the students on your thoughtful and inspiring projects!

KATE CALDER EARNED CPSM CERTIFICATION & WAS NAMED PRESIDENT OF SMPS UPSTATE NEW YORK CHAPTER

We are pleased to announce that our Director of Marketing & Culture, Kate Calder has earned a Certified Professional Services Marketer certification (CPSM) from SMPS National back in April.

The Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) is a diverse community of marketing and business development professionals working together to move the A/E/C industries forward.

A CPSM is recognized as an individual who has met a rigorous standard of experience and expertise in marketing professional services and has demonstrated their knowledge of the practice and related disciplines through a thorough examination of marketing competency.

Kate was also elected President of the SMPS Upstate New York chapter. Her one-year term began September 1, 2023. She has been a member of SMPS for over 17 years and has served on the board of directors for 10 years.

2 WELCOMED UMMER INTERNS

ton Neubart - High School Intern

ton Neubart, a senior enrolled at The any Academies joined C2 as a high school rn for the month of May. As part of the iculum, seniors were encouraged to seek shadowing opportunities within that student's field of interest. Students devoted a minimum of 80 hours to shadowing for the month of May.

Peyton was partnered with C2 ambassador, Makenna Ashley. Makenna graduated from Russell Sage College with a bachelors in fine arts and spatial and interior design.

Peyton graduated in June and is planning to attend Endicott College in the fall to pursue a architecture and interiors degree. Congratulations, Peyton!

Belle Warfield - College Intern

Belle Warfield returned to C2! For those of you who have followed Belle's journey with us, she first joined the C2 team as a high school intern in 2020. She was a senior at ScotiaGlenville CSD and was interested in pursuing architecture after graduation. We were excited to share our passion and knowledge with her as she learned more about the industry and made decisions about her future.

In August, she returned as a third-year at Alfred State University as part of their fiveyear BArch program - kudos to you!

C2 CELEBRATES 4TH ANNUAL C2 IT WEEK

During the month of August, the C2 team celebrated our fourth annual "iT" week. At C2 Design Group, we believe in camaraderie, teamwork, and the employee experience.

This year, we welcomed new staff and planned team-building events that created shared memories and opportunities to give back.

As a growing firm, we recognize how important employee engagement is. C2 iT week is all about fostering collaboration, communication and community.

WORKPLACE WELLNESS

As part of our health and wellness initiative the C2 team participated in an outdoor, ope air workout at the MVP Health Care Fitness Court located on SUNY Schenectady's campus. Staff were led thru a 45-minute, circuit training instructed by Sarah James, an MVP Fitness Court ambassador. These Fitness Courts provide an inclusive space for the community to work on their health and wellness.

Thank you to our friends at SUNY Schenectady for partnering with us on this amazing, healthy event for our team. Thank you to MVP Health Care for the hats, t-shirts, and water bottles ensuring our staff stayed hydrated and cool!

C2 IT Week Continued C2 CARES

The C2 team volunteered at a Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County's home build in Rotterdam, New York Together, the team cut and installed railings, caulked joints, and installed insulation.

C2 commits annually to volunteer as part of our C2 Cares program to make a difference within the communities where we live, work, and play.

Established in 1993, Schenectady Habitat serves Schenectady County in New York State’s Capital Region. The organization is dedicated to making quality, affordable housing solutions available to low-income families. To date, more than 50 houses have been sold – in addition to 100+ other housing units repaired for a total of more
