LOOKING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE HERE IN NORTHWEST LOUISIANA? SO ARE WE. UNITED WAY OF NORTHWEST LOUISIANA WORKS DAILY TO UNITE PEOPLE TO MAKE LIFE BETTER FOR EVERY PERSON IN OUR COMMUNITY.

Our focus is health, education, financial stability, and essential needs. Here in Northwest Louisiana, one of our fundamental challenges is economic sustainability. The strength of the Louisiana economy is inextricably tied to the financial stability of all residents - another obstacle our community faces.

According to the latest ALICE report released this year, in Northwest Louisiana, 56 percent of households are considered ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) and poverty households.

We see ALICE every day – hard workers who keep Louisiana’s economy moving but aren’t sure they can put food on their tables. They are waiters, childcare workers, teachers, police officers, home health aides, friends, and family.

When ALICE families have more resources, they can afford healthcare, savings, education, and essential items, and in return, our community will see more economic activity, higher tax revenue, and more. As long as there is an ALICE population, United Way will continue to work hard to provide families with the resources they need to prosper.

But we don’t do it alone. The Northwest Louisiana community is standing with us. Do-gooders like you are living their purpose through United Way by giving, volunteering, or speaking out for policies to improve our community. Every year, we change more than 100,000 lives annually through the support of loyal community partners like Coca-Cola Bottling Company United, International Paper, and Raymond James, the development of exciting new partnerships like Williams Companies and OMNI Specialty Packaging, and the combined giving power of more than 200 partner companies.

We only succeed when we collaborate and become United in Purpose with people like you who care about Northwest Louisiana and collaborate with others to advance programs that meet urgent needs today while building strength for tomorrow.
