Tinuke Colpa, MA Tinuke Colpa is an STSI Board Member, co-chair of BWGC's STEM, STEAM, & Health Careers Workgroup, and founder of Westchester College Consulting LLC with is dedicated to teaching young people how to navigate the college application process. Hosting our College Prep module, Ms. Colpa provided an overview of what colleges are looking for in applicants, highlighting the most impactful aspects of a student's experiences, knowledge, and skills.

Dr. Darlene Russell Dr. Darlene Russell is an STSI Board Member, co-chair of BWGC's Suspensions, Trauma, & Juvenile Justice Workgroup, university professor, and Fulbright Scholar. As a speaker this summer, during our Juvenile Justice NOW! module, Dr. Russell covered the trauma that black girls face resulting from the disparitites
in
exclusionary
discliplines,
such
as
school
suspensions, as they are held to stricter standards and are subjected to harsher punishments than their white peers.

Charmaine Golding, MS Charmaine Golding is an STSI Board Member, co-chair of BWGC's Entrepeneurship, Pay Equity, & Economic Prosperity Workgroup, and owner of Golden Krust Carribean Bakery & Grill. Ms. Golding hosted part of our "Financial Literacy & Economic Prosperity" module, discussing the importance of pay equity and the disparity between black and white women, developing
the
skills
of
salary
negotiation
entrepreneurship, and managing one's credit.

Sayidana BrannanDouglas, MS Ms. Brannan-Douglas is the founder, director, and producer of SBD Digital Media, a creative content creation agency that creates original, unscripted films and videos exploring themes of social and economic prosperity in the Black community. During our STEAM camp, Ms. Brannan-Douglas hosted part of our "Financial Literacy & Economic Prosperity" module, teaching our girls about buying stocks and more, and hosted the "Self Care" module, emphasizing the importance of natural female hygiene care. She also filmed and produced a documentary about the STEAM Camp and its importance.

Lauren Morris Lauren Morris is an STSI Board Member and the CEO of Loola Doola Boutique that produces personally designed accessories, in White Plains, NY.
She led our "Fashion Tips & Show"
module. Before we had our girls walk down the runway, Ms. Morris advised them on how to select clothing that was appropriate depending on the circumstance and the industry while also providing tips on how to customize and show their individuality without compromising their professionalism.

Stacy Thomas Stacy Thomas is the CEO of I Design Beauty which produces all natural skin, hair, and body care products, and she coached our girls on proper skincare as part of our "Skin & Self Care" module. Ms. Thomas covered topics about building a skincare routine
that
included
everything
from
cleansing
to
moisturizing and emphasized the importance of protecting your skin from the sun as well as, maintaining a proper diet and lifestyle by eating right and drinking plenty of water.

Athena DentAlleyne Athena Dent is an STSI Board Member and author of "Francesca's Journey" which explores the reality of the foster care system in America and reality of being a foster child. During our camp, Ms. Dent-Alleyne discussed aspects of her book before delving into her work as an author and hosting an open discussion about different genres, styles of writing, and other related topics.

Vinnie Bagwell Vinnie Bagwell is a sculptor and a representational-figurative artist, known for reframing public art to include historic Black images, including famous Black figures or figurative pieces representative of Black History. The girls took a short trip down to the library lobby to see Ms. Bagwell present her sculpted pieces as she told them of her desire to retell Black stories in a medium that was open to the public to spark their curiosity to find out more. Our STEAM Sistahs have previously visited her studio and viewed Ms. Bagwell's monumental Ella Fitzgerald Sculpture at the Yonkers Train Station.

Maudene Nelson, RD CDE Maudene Nelson is a registered dietitian, certified dietitiannutritionist, and certified diabetes instructor. Ms. Nelson gave a talk on healthy eating, cooking, and nutrition, giving easy to remember tips on ensuring a balanced diet and how to substitute foods from necessary food groups in case of dietary restrictions. After the "Nutrition & Healthy Eating" module, she led our girls into the kitchen to prepare their own healthy lunches for the day. She has offered this popular session during the STEAM Camp for over ten years.

Marieme Wade Marieme Wade is the owner of and a stylist at Magic Hands, a natural hair salon in Yonkers. Ms. Wade joined us this summer to teach our STEAM Sistahs about natural hair care, covering topics like washing, detangling, styling, retaining moisture, protecting, and more, including proper diet and hydration. She even held a little competition at the end to test their comprehension at the end of our "Natural Hair Care" module. Ms. Wade has one daughter graduate, who continues to serve as an STSI Gen Y Ambassador, and another who is currently enrolled in the STSI Camp & Academy.

Anika Puri Anika Puri is the founder of MozAIrt which seeks to inspire girls and other underrepresented minorites in the computer science field, especially in Artifical Intelligence, through practical and engaging application. Ms. Puri joined us this summer to teach our girls about how AIs can be used to create music or contribute to its production before showing them how to do it themselves in a fun project on their own personal devices in our "MozAIrt and Music" module.

Dr. Christine Veloso Dr. Christine Veloso is the co-director of Stony Brook University's STEP and C-STEP Programs which are dedicated to supporting and promoting academic excellence among students from low income households or underrepresented minority groups. Dr. Veloso provided our girls an overview of various STEAM fields and careers, staple or newly rising, before hosting her much loved STEAM Career Jeopardy game in which our girls competed fiercely against each other, as they learned about careers in STEM and STEAM.

Staci Hargraves, MBA Staci Hargraves is Vice President of R&D Portfolio at Janssen, the pharmaceutical company of Johnson & Johnson. Ms. Hargraves spoke about studying biology and stumbling upon clinical research and drug production. Learning all about drug conception to commercialization, pharmaceutical development and bio-technology, she became invaluable for her knowledge, taking a non-linear journey to where she is now, running a global organization.

Hon. Shanae Williams Hon. Shanae Williams is a Yonkers City Councilwoman, 1st District, and chair of the Legislation and Codes Committee. On the closing day of our STEAM Camp, Hon. Williams spoke with our STEAM Sistahs about how she came to Yonkers from Jamaica with a green card and how she got her citizenship with the help of her congressional representative. This inspired her to enter politics, and now one of her passions is housing opportunities, which she believes is a human right.
