OBJECTIVE OF THE WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION The purpose of the Birnam Wood Women’s Golf Association (BWWGA) is to promote women’s golf at Birnam Wood Golf Club. TUESDAY PLAY, TOURNAMENTS AND GUEST DAYS Our tournaments and guest days are open only to members of the Birnam Wood Women’s Golf Association. To play in our events you must have an established verifiable index. Those without an index should contact the Golf Shop to get one established. Your club account will be billed. 1. Regular Tuesdays: Play begins with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun with limited sign ups at 8:00-8:10 for twosomes and threesomes. The entry fee is $3, and signups are on the app, online or at the Golf Shop. While we are subject to Covid restrictions, there will not be a shotgun start. Instead, players may sign up for tee times on the website or with the Golf Shop. Players playing after the field has cleared the first tee will not be able to participate in the Tuesday game and will not be charged. 2.

First Tuesdays: On the first Tuesday of most months there is a mixer event with an 8:30 shotgun start. All levels of play are welcome. The entry fee is $3. The Golf Shop will group players into threesomes. The format is one best ball of the threesome. Prizes are awarded to the top two net teams. Once Covid restrictions are lifted, those unable to play are encouraged to join the group for lunch at 12:45 pm. Please indicate when you sign up if you plan to stay for lunch. Carts are encouraged.

3. Tournaments: The BWWGA offers a variety of tournaments each year, and all members are eligible, as specified in the tournament sign up information. 4.

Guest Days: Guest days are generally on the second Friday of most months and are followed by lunch. There is a charge for lunch, golf carts and a small entry fee, but no charge for greens fees. In order to compete, each guest must have an established index. No more than two Birnam Wood members may play in each foursome. BWWGA members may bring up to three guests for guest days.

5.

Cancellation Policy: For First Tuesdays, a member may cancel without penalty within 48 hours of any event. If a member cancels with less than 48 hours’ notice or is a no show, the cancellation fee will be $10 for First Tuesdays. For tournaments with a dedicated lunch, for cancellations within 48 hours of the event, or within the time limit specified in the flyer, the member will be charged $40, or the fee specified in the tournament information. For tournaments with a dedicated lunch, the member may pick up the lunch and tee prize, if any, between 1:00 and 1:30 that day.

6. Course Closed: Ladies not participating in an organized BWWGA tournament or guest day will not be permitted to play that day until the course is available for open play.

7. Tuesday Trial Offer: Birnam Wood women golfing members who do not belong to the BWWGA may play in the Tuesday play on one occasion and will be charged the $3 fee. Other than the one-day trial, non BWWGA members may play on Tuesday after approximately 9:30 when the first tee is open. They may not play in the competition.

8. “Ghosts”: From time to time, there may be a group playing in an event that does not have the required number of players for that event. In that case, the score from a player in another group will be used to fill out that group. The Golf Shop will decide who should act as the ghost and will ask the player before she tees off. That player must putt out on every hole.

9. Guests for the Lady MacBeth’s Challenge: BWWGA members may bring one guest to the Lady Macbeth’s Challenge, and should find another member and her guest to make a foursome. Lady Macbeth’s Challenge guests may not be a golfing member of Birnam Wood Golf Club. Non-golfing members of Birnam Wood may play as guests. Golf carts are required for all players participating in the Lady Macbeth’s Challenge.

10. Thursday Nine Hole Play: All women golf members (including those not belonging to the BWWGA) may participate in Thursday nine hole play. Players meet at the Golf Shop at 8:50 and are placed in groups by the golf professionals. The goal is to help members meet new people and play a relaxed round of golf. POSTING SCORES For every round of golf (18 or 9 holes) you must: (1) Enter your score in the computer in the golf shop, online or on the GHIN or Birnam Wood app Or (2) Give your score card to a golf professional and ask that the score be posted. Scores achieved during solo play may not be posted. For tournaments, there is a maximum index of 54.0 for individual events, and maximum index of 31.0 for twosome or more events.
