In this binder, you will find information that will cover many of the basics that you would expect to learn about any lodging establishment, but, a stay at Birnam Wood offers so much more. As a facility that is not available to the general public, you will find that tradition and camaraderie reign at Birnam Wood. The Cottages are an extension of the Club where you will find a relaxed and, at the same time, elevated experience. As a Cottage guest, the Club facilities are available for your enjoyment and our staff is available to assist with most any request. Please note that during evening hours your call will be answered by the Birnam Wood gatehouse officers. Rest assured they are well-versed and able to assist our Cottage guests. POLICIES, SERVICES AND AMENITIES DRESS CODE Golf course dress should conform to the golf clothing sold in the Golf Shop. Gentlemen should wear collared golf shirts tucked in at the waist and slacks, knickers, or Bermuda shorts with belts. Ladies should wear a collared shirt or jewel neckline. Bermuda shorts, knickers, slacks, capris, or skirts that fall below the fingertips when the golfer is standing with her arms extended straight down. Exercise/yoga tights and tennis skirts are not allowed. Metal spikes are not permitted on the golf course or elsewhere on the Club premises. Soft spikes should not be worn inside the Clubhouse except in the locker rooms and the 19th Hole Bar. Unacceptable Attire: Blue jean pants and jackets, tank tops, cut-offs, short shorts, sports jerseys, shirts with large insignias and phrases, baggy cargo pants or shorts, exercise tights or Tennis skirts on the golf course, caps and visors worn backward are prohibited. As a courtesy to others, gentlemen are requested to remove all headwear when inside the Clubhouse and members are requested to cover all tattoos. Swimwear is acceptable only at the Pool area. For further information, please refer to the Dress Code section of the Membership Book.
CELL PHONES AND BUSINESS PARAPHERNALIA Please note that the use of cell phones and other electronic and wireless devised for the purposes of conducting audible conversations is strictly prohibited on the Club premises, including the Clubhouse, The Terrace, tennis courts, croquet & bocce courts, the practice facility and the golf course. Except in the case of medical emergencies, should you desire to use your cell phone, they are allowed in the locker rooms and inside parked vehicles. The Club is for private, social and recreational use and is not for the transacting of business.

CHARGES WHILE VISITING BIRNAM WOOD Upon checking in, a guest privilege account will be established for your accommodation and incidental charges while visiting Birnam Wood. Simply sign all charges to this account and your charges will be applied to your or your sponsoring member’s statement. Please note that Birnam Wood is a cashless club, and no tipping is allowed. An automatic staff gratuity of 20% is added to dining charges.
PET POLICY We are pleased to welcome dogs in select cottages. Please note that pets are not allowed in the Clubhouse, the golf course or dining facilities. There is a pet fee of $100 per stay.
DOG PARK Birnam Wood offers a secure dog park which is available to our cottage guests. The dog park is located on Lemon Ranch Road, adjacent to the practice facility, and is open from 4:30-5:00pm daily.
TECHNOLOGY Cottage guests enjoy unrestricted access to high speed Wi-Fi. No password is required to log on. In your computer’s ‘System Preferences/Network’ menu, simply select your cottage number and you will be connected.
BIRNAM WOOD APP Cottage guests enjoy...and you will be connected. To aid in your convenience while visiting Birnam Wood, we encourage you to utilize our Birnam Wood App, which serves as a platform for all reservation needs, as well as easy ordering of any ‘To-Go’ or room service items. To download the app, Search for Birnam Wood in the Apple or Google Play store. Select ‘Get/install’. The App icon will have the Birnam Wood Logo. Once Downloaded, click on the login at the bottom of the main screen. Your username is your Birnam Wood Guest Card Number, for example, GC123. Your password will be the last name of your Sponsor (all lowercase).
HOUSEKEEPING Our gracious housekeeping attendants are available to assist in ensuring your comfort. Housekeeping service typically occurs between 9:00 to 11:30am and 12:30 to 3:00pm. Should you have specific requests or preferences in servicing your cottage accommodations, kindly dial extension 243 to speak with a member of our team. COTTAGE POOL This charming residential pool is heated year-round and available for cottage guests and members to relax, swim a few laps and enjoy the Southern California sunshine. Please note, there is no lifeguard on duty and minors must be accompanied by an adult.
CROQUET & BOCCE COURTS The Croquet and Bocce courts are available daily. You are able to place reservations for your desired time by contacting the reception desk. Traditional Croquet attire of all white wear and tennis or flat rubber soled shoes are requested.
LOCKER ROOMS Men’s and Ladies’ locker rooms are open daily from 6:30am to 11:00pm Tuesday through Saturday. On Sunday and Monday, the locker rooms are open from 6:30am to 6:00pm. Lockers may be rented by the month. Shoe shining service is available for a fee.

Four hard courts and two clay courts are available year-round and our accredited instructors are available for private instruction. EQUIPMENT The Fitness Center and Studio features a Precor cardio lineup, including treadmills, elliptical machines, AMTs and upright and recumbent bicycles. A comprehensive line of Free Motion strength equipment is available, as well as open space for core training, ball and band work, ballet bar, and an elevated stretching table.
GROUP EXERCISE CLASSES Group exercise classes are offered Monday through Friday. Classes include Iyengar Yoga, Pilates Plus, Core & More, and Strengthen & Lengthen, in addition to a selection of class videos. In the summer months, pool-based classes, such as Aqua Strengthen & Lengthen are offered in the Cottage Pool. PRIVATE TRAINING Personal private fitness training is available upon request. The Birnam Wood Fitness Directors each have over 30 years of experience in the fitness industry and are both Titleist Performance Institute Level 2 trainers. They look forward to assisting you with your health and fitness needs and are available for complimentary introductory sessions to the facility and for personal private training. SECURITY JARRETT GARCIA Director of Security The mission of the Birnam Wood security department is to enhance the quality of life for our members and guests by maintaining a secure and safe environment. The staff of the security department strives to accomplish this mission while adhering to its core values of pride, professionalism and service. One of several safety features members and guests enjoy is the controlled access to Birnam Wood. The gatehouse is staffed 24-hours a day, seven days a week by state certified security officers. Should you have guests visiting you, please contact security by dialing extension 219 from your guestroom and provide them with your guest’s names. Each Birnam Wood security officer has been formally trained in First Aid, CPR, and the deployment of an AED. You may observe a member of the security team walking through common areas of the club and cottages at any given time. Please do not be alarmed, the team conducts foot patrols of the cottages several times a day. If you need any security assistance, please contact the security department dialing extension 219 from your cottage phone. In the case of an emergency, please dial ‘9’ (to get an outside line), then ‘911’ for police, fire, or an ambulance.
