Shane Alderman

Shane is beginning his 31st year of teaching at the secondary level. Most recently, he taught Biology and Environmental Science at Fargo South High School. He has also previously taught at Hillsboro High School in North Dakota. Shane graduated from Minnesota State University, Moorhead with a degree in Life Science Teaching and holds a master’s degree in Science Education from North Dakota State University. A lifelong North Dakotan, Shane is excited to continue his career in SW Florida and feels very welcomed at Bishop Verot. Shane’s family includes his wife Laura, and their adult son and daughter, Dylan and Emily.

Robert Alvarado

Robert joins our faculty from the University of Delaware where he taught Spanish for three years after earning his MA in Spanish literature in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Born on Long Island, he then spent some years living in the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, France, and Spain. Robert attended the State University of New York at Old Westbury where he obtained his BA and later moved to Europe. During his graduate studies at the University of Granada, Robert had the opportunity to participate in a double master’s degree program, which allowed him to live and study in Toulouse

for five months. In his spare time, Robert enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with his family. Robert loves teaching Spanish and introducing students to Hispanic Culture. He is looking forward to helping students acquire near-native proficiency in Spanish and making an impact in global and language studies here at Bishop Verot.

Martin Byrd

Martin joins the Verot family teaching in both the Math and Social Studies Departments. He also joins the coaching team for the Football program. Martin earned his bachelor's degree from Polk State College. Most recently, Martin taught at Cypress Lake High School while also coaching football and track. Outside of school Martin serves on a number of community organizations centered around mentoring and community development. He looks forward to making a difference both in the classroom and on the field.

Josh Carlson

Josh Carlson, a Michigan native, moved to Florida this year to join the Bishop Verot Theology department. He graduated from Ave Maria University in 2019 with a B.A. in Theology. Josh has spent time as a missionary with the Marian Missionaries of Divine Mercy in Massachusetts, helped to facilitate the Missionaries of Charity’s men’s homeless shelter in the Bronx, and been involved in various ministries of mentorship. Josh is the youngest of 3 brothers and he enjoys an active lifestyle including biking and wakeboarding. Josh is passionate about Catholic education and is excited to be a part of the Bishop Verot community.

Craig Davis

Craig joins the Verot family after spending close to 10 years in corporate America. He was born and raised in Nantucket, Massachusetts, and earned his degree in Production Technology from Radford University in Virginia. Craig spent nine years with a Fortune 500 healthcare company, first in Tampa and then eventually Atlanta, where he worked in marketing, video production, and Tele-Health technology. His hope is to work with the Media Department to expand the digital media footprint at both the school and, by expansion, the community. Additionally, Craig will bring his passion for lacrosse to the school as he joins the BVHS Men’s Lacrosse coaching staff. Craig moved to Fort Myers to raise his young family. He was introduced to Verot because his wife, Melissa, is a Bishop Verot alumnas. The two have an 18-month-old daughter, Reese, and look forward to building a strong connection to the Fort Myers and Bishop Verot communities!

Jon Gadomski

Jon joins our faculty with 10 years of teaching experience. He earned his BA in History from the University of South Florida and his MA in Theology and Educational Ministry from the Catholic Distance University. Jon has worked in both Catholic education as well as in youth ministry. Jon is married with six children and also cares for children in need via foster care. He is excited to join the Bishop Verot Family as a theology teacher and prays that together he and his students will become Saints for God’s Kingdom.

Matt Hiller

Matt joins the Bishop Verot administrative team, serving as Assistant Dean of Students. Matt graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York with a BA in Government and Minor in History. Upon graduation, he moved to Florida to pursue an MA of Teaching Social Science Education and graduated USF with honors in 2007. After three years teaching, coaching, and mentoring students at a private school in Bradenton, Matt opened Elevation Preparatory Academy where he served as the Managing Partner and Head of School for 11 years. Matt and his wife Breanna (Clay) ’08 are excited for the opportunity to be in Fort Myers to raise their young future Vikings, Macklynn ’35 and Hudson ’38, close to family and friends.

Margaret Kennedy

Margaret has been serving in Catholic education since 1985. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis and her M.A. in Theology from Felician University. Margaret has had the pleasure of teaching students in parish religious education programs as well as youth ministry. In addition, she has formally taught theology on the secondary school level, as well as served as Service Coordinator for Campus Ministry. Margaret has been a lifelong Catholic and feels very blessed to be working at Bishop Verot Catholic High School where she can combine her love of education and her faith. She loves the performing

arts, traveling, swimming, and spending time with her husband of 31 years, John, family, grandchildren, and friends.

Megan Murray

Megan joins our faculty in her first year of teaching. She was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She attended Grove City College in Pennsylvania where she earned a degree in English and Communications Secondary Education. Megan is teaching English and is also the junior class moderator. She is excited to join the Bishop Verot Family and help students grow spiritually, academically, and socially.

Richie Rode

Richie Rode joins the Verot family, teaching AP Economics and leading the Football Program. Coach Rode began his high school coaching career in 2003 as the Offensive Coordinator at Fort Myers High School. He was later hired to lead the Cypress Lake Panthers, his alma mater. Coach Rode earned his degree from Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia where he was a triple major (Business, Accounting and Economics). Coach Rode and his wife, Bishop Verot alum, Stephanie (Healy) Rode ’97, reside in Cape Coral and have three children, Charles, Justin, and Brooklyn; and one grandchild, Jocelynn.

Janet Tuohy

Janet Tuohy joins our faculty after teaching AP and Honors Chemistry in New Jersey for the past 11 years. Prior to her teaching career, she was a communications strategist and market researcher in the food, healthcare and pharmaceutical industry working in New York City. Janet holds a MS from the University of Chicago in Clinical Nutrition and a BSW from The Pennsylvania State University in Applied Nutrition. Following her son’s high school graduation this past summer, the family moved to Florida and now resides in Bonita Springs.

David Villegas

David joins the Verot Athletic Department as a teacher and member of the football coaching team. Originally from New York, he graduated from Ithaca College in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education. He also holds a MA in Coaching Education from Ohio University. David has over ten years experience in the classroom and on the field coaching football, wrestling, and lacrosse. He is very excited to join the Verot family and get to work! BV
