Wintering Options

We have three convenient winter options: 1. Take your bull home sale day and receive $100 off your purchase. 2. We will keep your bull(s) free of charge until April 1st, deliver them for free up to 300 miles and will include a free semen evaluation prior to delivery. 3. If you are unable to take delivery sale day, OR by April 1st, we will keep your bull(s) for a fee of $4/head/day until you can pick them up. Buyer will have the option to insure their purchase(s) sale day. If buyer chooses not to insure their purchase and does not take their purchase(s) home, they must sign a waiver of liability on sale day.

Free Delivery on 3 or more bulls regardless of distance. 300 miles or less $Free 301-400 miles $75 per bull 401-500 miles $125 per bull 501 and over $175 per bull All bulls will be delivered to a central location. Topp Herefords will contact buyer prior to delivery to determine a central location. Females will be delivered free up to 300 miles. Beyond 300 miles females will be delivered at the least possible cost but are the sole responsibility of the buyer.

Retained Interest

Topp Herefords will retain the right to utilize semen in herd on any lot in this sale. The interest retained will not affect your use or schedule.

Terms of Sale

Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder and becomes the responsibility of the purchaser as soon as sold. The auctioneer will settle any disputes from the auction block. The cattle sell under the standard terms and conditions as recommended by the American Hereford Association.

Breeding Guarantee

Bull calves will be guaranteed breeders. If failing to be satisfactory, they must be reported to Topp Herefords by August 1, 2020. A replacement bull will be located at Topp Herefords or you can choose to receive 100% credit towards the purchase of a replacement bull in our next sale.

All bulls have been tested for known genetic defects and results are listed in the catalog.

Insurance will be available sale day. Any bull(s) wintered at Topp Herefords must be insured or a waiver of liability signed on sale day.

With 2019 seeing extreme weather challenges for a large portion of the United States, as well as volatile markets, one very positive thought comes to mind—establishing systems on your ranch to weather these storms makes smart business sense. The true value of the Topp Herefords marketing systems showed its strength by providing ample opportunity to contract calves for fall delivery at a profit. It was gratifying to once again witness the rewards of the forward-thinking mentality of our client base. Progressive, business-minded planning that ensures stayability in a very competitive marketplace. The baldy heifer programs have evolved into a premier venue for front-end baldy, bred heifers. Your willingness to allow our partners to purchase your baldy females has become an event to look forward to every fall. The bull offering for 2020 is engineered to turn pounds into dollars in your pocketbook. Simply put, the days of ignoring the reality of crossbreeding are gone. The money lost by not taking advantage of the value of heterosis is the money that can make the difference. Pioneer’s progeny do not disappoint and 206E is a superior example. 206E is one of the most performance-oriented male bovine of the Hereford population. 206E ranks in the top 1% of the breed for both WW, YW, and is in the top 3% for rib eye area. He achieves this in a very complete, well-balanced frame-to-rib shape comparison. His progeny display the same characteristics as he did at a year of age: just more grow and capacity than their contemporaries. Consider the tremendous value of his pedigree. His sire, Pioneer 358C, has been the top selling sire group the last two seasons. 358C’s daughters have exhibited an MPPA of 103.5 and do so with spectacular udder type. His dam, 13Y, has a lifetime WW ratio of 110.8, YW of 109.7, REA of 103 and IMF of 109.2. 206E himself posted spectacular ratios of 128 WW, 126 YW, 110 REA and 129 IMF.

44D was the No. 1 calving ease bull used for the 2019 crop. Progeny were ultravigorous at birth to go along with the low actual BW. Twenty-five progeny ratioed a phenomenal 88.1. We certainly appreciate the consistency of type on the 44D calves as they are very eye appealing cattle that keep going after weaning. His dam, 529B, is one of consistency.
