It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to Western Treasures, Volume 5— This year’s annual production sale is full of the genetics, phenotype, and cowman’s type of cattle. We are excited to offer this set of bulls that are backed by some of the most prolific cow families in the Hereford breed. This group of bulls is our best set to date, being sound footed, powerfully constructed and carrying a well-balanced set of genomic values to back them up. By bringing Hereford bulls into our commercial program we have seen firsthand what this breed can do. Herefords have increased our weaning weights, fertility and longevity along with bringing in a great deal of docility. The baldy steers and heifers produced from these bulls have worked great. Whether it’s the steers in the feedlot or the heifers used as replacements entering the cow herd, they have truly been our best. Having our own Commercial herd allows us to also use our California Homegrown Bulls in our herd and collect the data that tells us what these bulls can do for our customers. In the best interest of the beef industry and belief in our cattle, we continue to feed them out to verify our genetic direction. We have continued our commitment to the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) by initiating the Foundation 1 Club. Our commitment is to donate 1% of our sale’s gross to the HYFA organization. We hold a strong belief in helping our future generations and insuring their opportunities in the livestock industry. It has been exciting see other breeders joining into the Foundation 1 and to support the next generation in the cattle industry. In closing, we welcome you to Sierra Ranches and feel that this sale offering is what Purebred, Commercial Cattleman, and young breeders are looking to add to their cowherds. These cattle have worked great in both herds of our program— commercial and purebred. They will work in yours, as well. HERD HEALTH - All cattle are in good health and will have interstate health charts required for immediate shipment. Bred females will be pregnancy tested. All bulls sell vaccinated for Anaplasmosis. All bulls are tested free of persistent BVD and trichomoniasis. All bulls have been semen tested and fertility examined. Each animal will be at a purchaser’s risk after it is sold. INSURANCE - Mortality insurance will be made available through Jim Bessler at the time of settlement. TERMS & CONDITIONS - Cattle will sell under the suggested Terms and Conditions of the American Hereford Association (https://hereford.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Terms-of-Sale-for-Auctions-2009.pdf) BULL DELIVERY AND DISCOUNTS - In a continued effort to show appreciation to our loyal customers, we will be giving a 5% repeat buyers discount on the bulls only. If you previously bought a bull from Sierra Ranch, you will receive the discount. If you’re a new buyer in 2021, you will be eligible to receive the 5% discount in 2022. We will offer an additional 5% discount if you are a volume buyer of three or more bulls. We also offer free delivery on bulls to buyers from California and bordering states. BULL GUARANTEE - All bulls selling have passed a breeding soundness examination prior to the sale. To ensure your investment, Sierra Ranch will guarantee all bulls selling for $2,500 or more against breeding injury and to be sound breeders for the first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 90-day period following the first turnout of the bull(s). If a problem arises, contact us and we will provide a replacement bull if available, or if the buyer prefers, credit toward another bull will be given in an upcoming sale, less salvage value of the injured bull. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury or problem occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. No claims will be accepted after six months fro the sale date.

It is with great pleasure that I help introduce a tremendous set of bulls that will work in any western environment. The horned and polled Hereford bulls are from the some of the best cow families in America. Tim, Kara, Tyler and Kathryn Coleman have scoured the country to find as good of maternal Hereford genetics as they could find. They have mated these tremendous cows to some of the most balanced trait high-quality AI Sires the business. It has resulted in herd bulls and donor cows who’s progeny are also featured throughout the sale along with direct sons. I was raised in the Hereford business and appreciate what they are doing here at Sierra Ranches. The Hereford sired feeder calf or replacement female out of black or red cows creates one of the most profitable crosses in the cattle industry. The added performance, fertility, longevity and overall value of the Baldy calf is well documented and the data speaks for itself. I have known Tim and Kara for over 20 years and their dedication to the cattle industry is second to none.
