Welcome to P&R Herefords 2nd Production Sale! Sometimes life throws you a couple of curve ball years and last year was one of those years. You find out who your real friends are during the tough times and I certainly want to thank my number one friend Paula Craig Laubach for all that she does. Thanks Mom! If it were not for you and Craig Ranches, P&R wouldn’t be able to host this sale. I also want to thank the many neighbors and friends that helped me and showed so much respect last year. It was truly a most humbling experience and I will never forget any of you! A special thank you to Brandon Webb, Steve and Ryan Redgate, Laubach Land & Cattle Co., and Allen Moss for purchasing what would have been our 2016 sale bulls on very short notice at the Woodward Livestock Auction last year. I also want to thank our guest consignors, Graft-Britton Ranch and Laubach Land & Cattle Co., for marketing their cattle in this year’s sale. Glenn and Jean Britton have a very uniform quality set of Hereford bulls in this sale. Dad and Ross have consigned some top of the line Hereford and Hereford cross genetics to the sale. Ross has always been the work horse at the ranch. Thank you! P&R Herefords is as committed as ever to producing “range cattle efficiency” Hereford cattle that will help make your operation profitable. I know that our cattle can’t make us money if they don’t help make you money. P&R Herefords’ greatest desire is to make you money! We will continue to focus on producing moderate, “middle of the road” cattle that are efficient on grass, problem free and raised the same way our commercial cattle are handled. Our goal is not to produce the most of any one trait but to produce optimum, well-balanced Hereford cattle. I continue to focus P&R’s breeding program on what I consider the “meat and potatoes” traits that drive profitability in any cow-calf operation. Traits like fertility, forage gain efficiencyfleshing ability, low to moderate birth weights, milk production and structural soundness are paramount in my opinion and so that is where we focus our efforts. Our EPD profiles on these cattle will generally be lower than breed average for birth weight with better calving ease, moderate on growth traits, above breed average for maternal milk and milk plus growth. Anyone who has seen our cow herd knows that our cows are structurally sound, have excellent udder quality and continue to breed back on time year after year after year. All the cattle will be on display at Trail from Friday, October 13 to sale day on Monday the 16th. We want to thank you for your interest in our breeding program. SALE TERMS AND CONDITIONS Terms of the sale are check or cash. Every animal will be sold to the highest bidder with the auctioneer settling any bidding disputes. All cattle are the buyer’s property as soon as sold and will be cared for a reasonable length of time at the buyer’s cost and risk. GUARANTEE All sale cattle are, to the best of our knowledge, free of any disease or defect. Any known defects will be called at sale time. All cattle are guaranteed breeders. Any bred female selling is considered a breeder without further warranty. If any animal fails to breed after a trial of six months, it may be returned to the seller in good condition and in compliance with Oklahoma health regulations. The seller reserves the right to try said animal for 90 days and, if it proves to be a breeder, return it to the buyer at the buyer’s expense. If the animal proves to be a nonbreeder, the purchase price will either be refunded or credited toward the purchase of an animal in the next sale at the buyer’s option. No adjustments will be made after nine months from the sale date. We assume no liability, legal or otherwise, to make any further compensation to the buyer. DELIVERY & TRUCKING Delivery will be provided up to 250 miles from the sale facility on all bull purchases of $5,000 or more. Delivery on the females will be at buyer’s costs but we will help assist with the delivery of any sale animals the best we can. All sale cattle must be paid in full before delivery with no exceptions.

REGISTRATION AND TRANSFER Registration certificates will be transferred to buyers upon request at seller’s expense. In addition, seller will pay for the cost of DNA test direct to the American Hereford Association for parent verification on any calves born to females that were exposed to multiple herd sires upon request.

The P&R Sale Bulls don’t like buying fat bulls and here at P&R those folks will get the chance to do just that. All of the sale bulls were raised on a forage only based diet. The sale bulls grazed winter wheat until May and might have been fed 3 or 4 pounds of 20% range cubes once per week if we had time to feed them. This summer the sale bulls grazed crabgrass or native pasture with 3 to 4 pounds of either 20% range breeder cubes or alfalfa/wheat mid pellets being fed as a supplement on a per day basis. Two or three of the bulls were used and they will have a little less condition but will also give you a glimpse of what these cattle will look like in their working clothes at a young age. These bulls will be in good condition but not even close to being fat as they are range hardy and ready to turn out and work.
We hope our customers will be pleased with the overall uniformity in this year’s sale bulls. Our herd is focused on what we call “range cattle efficiency” Herefords. P&R Herefords is serious about breeding problem free range cattle not feedlot cattle. The translation to that statement is that these cattle are not bred for maximum gain but for optimum performance and moderate maturity frame and weight. Our goal is to wean our bull calves between 600 to 700 pounds off the cow and for them to reach 1000 pounds on winter wheat pasture as yearlings. As you look through this year’s sale bulls they all achieved or came real close to achieving those goals. Any good cowman knows that his cheapest gain on his calves every year is the gain they put on nursing their mommas. A lot of people say they

Glen and Jean Britton have once again consigned a really top set of bulls featuring several top sons of their HH Advance 1291Y Holden bred herd sire. 1291Y is one of the top 5 horned Hereford bulls in the breed for marbling and is proving to be a great producer of highly productive females. One of our best customers from our first sale said this when he saw 1291Y, “now that’s what a Hereford

These 5 commercial bulls are all raised by Laubach Land & Cattle Co., but can be registered at cost under dad’s AHA pedigree only herd account. Laubach Land & Cattle is primarily a commercial cow-calf operation but dad keeps a small herd of registered cows. Since the herd is pedigree only we do not turn in weights on this herd and thus there are no EPDs to list on the bulls. The cows in the pedigree herd have not been DNA tested for genetic abnormalities so we cannot guarantee the carrier status of the idiopathic epilepsy gene (IE) that has been identified by the American Hereford Association. All of these bulls are sired by our P&R Advancer L 027X herd sire that is a top CL 1 Domino 5110R son that we own with Noack Herefords LLC of Rockdale Texas. LOT
