Welcome Fellow Breeders and Friends, On behalf of our crew at Journagan Ranch of Missouri State University, we would like to invite you to be with us October 1, 2022. As we prepare for our 31st sale and celebrate 42 years in the Hereford business, we want to say a “THANK YOU” for the support of our customers and friends.

Our goal has always been to provide the Best Hereford Genetics to the Beef Cattle Industry. We use all the available tools to provide documentation to enhance our genetics to be more predictable and profitable. Our cow herd is very maternal. They have been raised and bred on fescue for generations and are very adapted to our environment. We focus on the economic relevant traits like foot, structure, udder, teat, fleshing ability and most importantly Fertility. We feel carcass is a trait that the whole Beef business should be concerned about. We have been gathering carcass data for 22 years. We take that data and balance it with all the other traits to influence our genetics. Most importantly we listen to our customers’ needs and concerns and value their input.

We are excited about the Quality of cattle in this year’s offering. We look forward to your appraisal.

We have top set of Cows that are tried and proven. The Heifer calves are very exciting and are the pinnacle of our program. The service age Bulls are the most complete we have ever offered. The young Bull prospects are the Best ever. All the bulls have been Genomic enhanced EPD’s. The Bred heifers were selected from the heart of our replacements. Many Dams of Distinction and Sires of Distinction are represented and are anchored by generations of Journagan Genetics. We are honored to be recognized 10th on the American Hereford Associations list of Dams of Distinction for 2021.

Dear Friends, Welcome to “Genetically Yours 31st Anniversary Sale”. Each year it seems the sale offering gets better. After going through the Journagan two year olds in production this year, I can assure you it will continue to do so in the future. It is a pleasure for Linda and I to be a part of this 31st sale. Marty has been a great leader in this program and has served on many committees as well as serving two terms on the Hereford Association Board of Directors. The cattle from this program have provided the foundation for many herds.

We will again have the Junior Futurity with the cattle on hand at the Darr Center with a hamburger cookout and social gathering Friday night before the sale.

2022 Journagan Ranch Sale Cattle Junior Futurity • Make plans to be with us Friday evening before the sale at 6 p.m.

• Juniors that purchased animals in the 2021 sale will be vying for almost $5000 to spend towards the purchase of cattle in the 2022 sale.

• It will be a great time to socialize with other breeders, see how calves from last year matured out, and get an early look at the offering for the next day.

Announcing 2023 Journagan Ranch Sale Cattle Junior Futurity SALE LOCATION The sale will be held in the ballroom at the Bond building.

This is the brick building on your left as you enter the gate. This facility is environmentally controlled, handicap assessable and allows for social distancing. The cattle will still be displayed in the same place as usual at the west end of the property. We will have a shuttle that will run between the cattle display and the sale site. There is parking for cars at the Bond building.

Video will be used during the sale. We will have large LCD screens set up. When each sale lot is presented a video of that lot will be run and the auction will take place.

• Open to Juniors ages 7 thru 21 by Sept 25, 2023 who purchase any lot in the 2022 sale including calves born from cows purchased in the 2021 sale.

• The animal has to be purchased in the name of the junior and transferred to the junior at the time of purchase.

• Entries due by September 25, 2023 • At this time show will be held at Darr Agriculture Center at 6:00 p.m the evening prior to the sale • Exhibitor must follow AHA fitting rules as stated in the official “Rules, Regulations and Bylaws” of the American Hereford Association.

• Heifers, Cow/calf and Bulls will show for an overall champion • Each entry will receive $250 in sale credit • An overall Grand Champion and Reserve will be selected with prizes of $1000 and $500 of sale credit respectively.
