As you look through this catalog, you will see the continued advancements that we have made in a very short time. To achieve these goals, Iron Lake Ranch has used an extensive embryo transplant program that incorporates many of the Hereford breed’s top donors, including proven donors that have been in production for many years as well as the most cutting-edge young donors for the most advanced genetics. Following are the donors most influential in the Iron Clad Genetics III Sale. More than half of this offering will have direct ties to these donors.

1L was one of the foundation females of the famed Grandview/CMR herd.

1L is a full sister to P606, whose daughters are still sought after today for their outstanding maternal ability and perfect udders. 1L offers this and 1L more. She passes her perfect pigment to nearly every calf along with her big volume maternal look. We are very fortunate to have had the opportunity to add Beth 1L genetics to the Iron Lake Ranch program through the use of IVF technology. Beth is nearing her retirement; however, her influence will always be a part of our future.

Also originating from the Grandview/CMR herd are three P606 daughters: 26S, X201 and U358, who share all the qualities that P606 is known for, being the ultimate Hereford female producer. All three are moderate framed with huge body and rib, but what you will be the most impressed with are their perfect udders and strong milk flow.

U201 has become one of the most famous donor cows in the Hereford breed, being the dam of feature Knoll Crest herd sire X51, who ranks in the top 1% of the breed for 10 of the breed’s measurable traits, U201 including the top number for REA, and is one of nine that has a CHB index at 50 or above. U201 has a .98 REA EPD backed by 45 progeny with an average REA ratio of 107. U201 will have a strong influence on the Iron Lake Ranch program for years, as she has left many daughters that will become donors. Additionally, she continues to influence the breed by producing herd bull sons that are being used throughout the nation, such as ILR Peace of Mind and ILR Red Power. U201 is co-owned with Knoll Crest Farm.

0123X sold in last year’s Iron Clad Genetics II Sale to Circle G Ranch, Canton, TX, for $10,000 and remains a part of the Iron Lake program through embryos that were collected while she was at work for us. 0123X 0123X was purchased from Churchill Cattle Co., Manhattan, MT. When she was wet with her first calf, this Outcross daughter had one of the finest udders on a two-year-old that you would ever see. She is an easy keeping female that adds power without sacrificing a smooth blending shoulder and front end. There are six direct sons and daughters of 0123X in the sale.

6155S was the $95,000 female from the 2013 Holden Herefords Production Sale. She is the dam of many of the high selling bulls from the Holden program and has produced many great females. Unfortunately, 6155S passed on to the next plane 6155S this spring, so you need to take advantage of this opportunity to acquire her genetics, as they will not likely be offered again.

The Patti Family 1162Y is a very influential part of Iron Lake Ranch.

She is the full sister to 0230X, the 2012 Denver Champion Female that was shown by Haley Hudson, She is very impressive to see, having massive bone and rib combined with 1162Y plenty of muscle and volume, yet she maintains a very feminine front end with a smooth shoulder that is set at a perfect angle. In fact, we love 1162 so much for her looks and production that we acquired her mother, Patti 4266, from Ronnie Storrs soon after the purchase of 1162. Two direct daughters of 4266 sell.

28X This Rest Easy daughter was purchased from Bell Ward and was quite a female to see with her big body, big butt and beautiful udder.

While 28X was one of our favorite donors, producing one of the top 28X selling females in our last sale, she has unfortunately passed on, and future progeny will be hard to come by.

There are two direct daughters in this sale and one son—some of the females will carry his service. If you are studying to find a future donor from this offering, consider Lot 26, a Rest Easy out of 28X.

This female comes from the first flush that Iron Lake performed with 6155S, and what a flush it turned out to be. Grizzly was the Grand Champion Bull at the National Western in 2012 and was later named Hereford Champion Bull of the World by HerefordBreeder.net. A flush brother to this female was sold in the Fort Worth Cowtown Classic to Circle G Ranch, Canton, TX, where he is currently working as a herd sire. Another flush brother sold in the 2015 Iron Clad Genetics II Sale for $10,000.

RPH Maiden 95T is the dam of C ETF Wildcat 4248 ET, the popular Grand Champion Polled Bull at the 2015 Fort Worth Stock Show and division winner at the 2015 National Western Stock Show. Wildcat posted a very impressive 119 IMF ratio in the Colyer herd as well as a 115 ratio for REA. 95T was the top selling bred heifer in the dispersion of the Frank Rodgers herd in Idaho, where she posted an individual ratio of 163 for marbling.

The sire is the 2015 National Reserve Champion Bull Full Throttle, who has become one of the more prolific sires in the breed. The dam is Gabrielle 8129, dam of CSF 18U Olivia 2102, the 2013 North American International Livestock Exposition Grand Champion Female. We had the opportunity to purchase half interest in this proven donor from Burns Farms, Pikeville, TN, and jumped right on it. Females of this caliber don’t come around very often, and we wanted to take full advantage.

8129 is a direct daughter of the now-deceased BR DM Sooner, whose semen is in very limited supply, and the immortal Gabrielle 5082, who has certainly left her mark in the Hereford industry.

8129’s flush sister 8130 is the dam of the $240,000-valued BR Anastasia, who commanded $120,000 for half interest in Barber Ranch’s 2013 Holiday Lights Sale. Anastasia is the famed multi-National Champion Female and full sister to Aventus, the 2016 Denver Supreme Champion Hereford and Fort Worth Grand Champion Bull. 8129 is also a full sister to 1066, who was purchased in the spring 2012 Cowtown Lights Sale by Colyer Herefords, Bruneau, ID. 1066 went on to capture the Grand Champion Female banner at the 2013 Fort Worth Stock Show and is now in the donor pen at Colyers.

A full sib heifer to this mating sold in the spring of 2016—1/2 interest for $28,000—and was Reserve Champion at the 2016 Southeastern Regional Show.

She was chosen for her solid performance, with herd bull sons selling to Accelerated Genetics, Topp Herefords and Jeremy Brooks in the 2013 Hoffman Ranch Bull Sale. Four Outcross open heifers sold in Hoffman’s dispersal for an average of $9,700 (high of $28,000), and the lead bred heifer in the Hoffman dispersal was a Redeem out of 8090U that sold for $10,000. In addition to her performance, 8090U has tremendous eye appeal, moderate frame, huge rib and powerful muscle.

The dam of this heifer sells as Lot 36 and is a direct daughter of Ladysport Dew 78P, who is now deceased and will go down as one of the most prolific, high dollar-generating females of the Hereford breed. 78P has several sons and daughters serving as either herd bulls or donor dams for seed stock operations across the land. Pearl 5059 is said to be the best cow out of the old MSU Pearl 67G, who in her lifetime generated over $500,000 in direct progeny sales.
