Hereford Night IN OKC Dear Hereford Breeders, Welcome to the National Hereford Sale — Hereford Night in OKC. We look forward to returning to Oklahoma City, Okla., in 2024. Last year’s offering and sale was outstanding. The Hereford Night in OKC was one of the top averaging sales of all breeds at Cattlemen’s Congress in 2023— quite a tribute to the consignors and quality of Herefords selling in Oklahoma City. The Hereford Night in OKC sale will once again offer elite Hereford genetics — bulls, females and herd picks. This sale in the past has brought forward bulls that have left a lasting impact on the Hereford breed. The 2024 sale will feature bull lots several of which includes at least half possession or more; a benefit for breeders wanting a great pasture sire for their operations. Females selected from this sale have found their way to donor pens for breeders across the nation. Herd picks offer a unique opportunity for breeders to select proven genetics from leading Hereford operations. Returning this year to the Cattlemen’s Congress is a Commercial Cattlemen’s Luncheon that will be held during the Hereford bull and female pen show on Thursday, Jan. 4. This was an overwhelming success last year and again this year the steak sandwich feed will start at 11 a.m. An effort to invite commercial cattlemen to the pen bull and female show will continue this year for the Cattlemen’s Congress. Another positive for Hereford events in Oklahoma City. The opportunity to select additional lots for this sale at the show will be available again this year. These additions to past national sales have added excitement and another valuable aspect for Hereford breeders to consider. This selection option for the Hereford Night in OKC sale is available for both the open and pen shows. This year the consignors have stepped it up on quality for this sale. We appreciate their commitment to making the sale offering a great one each year. We thank the consignors of past sales and the ones for this year’s event. Consignors and their Hereford genetics make this sale successful. Don’t forget to attend the Hereford Eve in OKC sale on the evening before the National Hereford Sale. Hereford Eve in OKC is slated for Thursday, Jan. 4, at 7:30 p.m., at the Embassy Suites Oklahoma City Northwest. This sale annually offers some of the best frozen genetics the breed has to offer. We invite you to attend the 2024 National Hereford sale in Oklahoma City. If you can’t make it to Oklahoma City, the sale will be broadcast on LiveAuctions.TV and offers you the opportunity to bid via the internet. Feel free to contact us with any questions or for additional information. All the best,

Joe Rickabaugh American Hereford Association 785-633-3188 jrick@hereford.org

Pick of Heifer Pen • Be sure to view the videos for these heifers on our website www.cnlfarm.com

C&L Hereford Ranch and Oleson Family Farm are bringing their best to Oklahoma City and are spicing things up with this pick of the pen of heifer calves out of Salsa. Salsa made her debut as the 2016 Lot 1 Foundation Female in Denver, selling for $80,000 to benefit Hereford youth. Salsa and her progeny have made quite the mark in the breed, and she’s not done giving yet. Salsa was the 2017 reserve champion cow-calf pair in Louisville and is responsible for generating approximately $500,000 of revenue, including the Media son that is gaining interest all over North America. The Folkman family is an integral part of the foundation’s success story and they have stepped up once again becoming valued partners in the Foundation 1 Campaign that is building the pillars of leadership and education. Buyer takes their pick with all proceeds supporting the Hereford Youth Foundation of America, with half marked for the Wisconsin Queen Fund and the other half committed to the Junior National Hereford Expo and the Growing a Lasting Legacy Campaign that Steve helped to initiate after the 2005 JNHE.

• For the third year in a row, T/R Cattle Company and HYFA have partnered to bring you another exciting female. • We love so many things about this female. 7L is a great example of what we knew 1816 could do in production. 1816 has had some awesome females in her very first flush, but if there has been one that is identical to her, it’s this female. In 2023 the first three full sibs to sell won the Texas State Horned Hereford Show, Texas hot fair, Reserve Division I Polled JNHE and Champion Division VII Polled at JNHE. You’re getting our very best! Cattle of this magnitude are in high demand. American Classic nor Mirror Image are strangers to the breed; their everlasting success in and out of the ring in cowherds across America seems to stand against the test of time. These bloodlines are potent and the generating potential is unmatched. Siblings have been sold for a total valuation of $312,500. The pedigree is fresh, undeniably stacked, and her build is as consistent as the family traits. Take advantage of an opportunity to benefit the great youth of this breeding while also increasing the power in your donor battery! • T/R Cattle Company reserves has the right to two (2) flushes of six (6) viable embryos each flush at seller’s expense and buyer’s convenience. • HYFA’s proceeds will benefit the Foundation One Program and the Junior National Hereford Expo. Thank you, Trent Ray, for setting a high standard for the youth with this annual commitment.

This year’s choice includes two daughters of Land Grant and one daughter of Final Print and on the dam side, includes two heifers out of the great 19Z cow and one out of an outstanding 45C daughter. These females have the ability to show, but more importantly will go on to make an impact on the future of your herd as a top donor! Delaney/Atkins retains the right to two (2) flushes on any heifer sold.

• Homozygous polled. Here’s a gorgeous daughter of 19Z by Land Grant. 19Z has produced numerous sons and daughters that have sold in the National Hereford sale averaging well over $20,000. To say she’s been a household name would be an understatement. 86L has the look of a future donor cow. Her combination of softness and fleshing ability compliments her ideal structural build. • Dark red, goggle eyed, conservatively marked, huge bodied and heavy muscled. This calf is a herd bull prospect with earning potential. The Land Grant calves are proving to be high quality and high value. Top that off with the fact that this young stud is out of the great 8032 cow whose first natural calf was RST Final Print 0016 — one of the hottest young bulls in the country. 8032 sold in the Delaney/Atkins September 2023 Genetic Opportunity sale to Express Ranches and GKB Cattle. She has given us a great set of calves and we consider this bull to be her top son in 2023. 23L has an outstanding EPD profile with 12 traits in the top 10% of the breed plus a unique combination of high carcass weight and lower Mature Cow weight. He should produce great females and very marketable sons. • Selling 2 /3 interest and full possession. Delaney/Atkins will retain full 1/3 semen interest.

• Our experience to select the Pick of Females that we purchased at the 2023 Hereford Night in Oklahoma ended differently than expected. We selected a spectacular female and while there, this bull caught our attention out of hundreds of bull calves. We didn’t want to leave without him as we believe he will work for both maternal production and terminal buyers in the industry. He is a well-balanced combination of genotype and phenotype traits. He’s equipped with thickness, width of top, depth and massive bone size. These qualities are ideal in a time when cattle are breaking records, selling by the pound in the current market. He won’t go unnoticed with his dark, cherry red color that is red to the ground along with pigment. His pedigree is one that can be used widely across the breed today. Several of his EPDs are in the Top 15% of the breed. A few of the highlights with top EPDs are the following: MM & MG 1%: CW 4%; WW, REA,BMI, & BII 7%; SCF 10%. We decided to offer Spring possession as we have converted to mainly Fall calving and we want him to be in production year around. The Rausch Family agreed with his distinctiveness enough to retain 1/4 semen interest. • We are offering spring possession and ¼ semen interest. • This is a correction to the information in the printed sale catalog (12/6/23).

We call his fantastic dam, 978, the “Udder Queen”! • Open Range has fantastic EPDs ranking him in the top 10% of the breed in these important traits: WW, YW, MM, UDDR, TEAT, CW, FAT, REA and CHB$. • Terms to be announced, but will include some possession, semen sales and show rights. Contact us prior to the sale to be included for a semen package for spring 2024 breeding.

• We take great pride in being a part of this year’s Hereford Night in Oklahoma City sale, which is why we dug straight to the heart of our replacement pen to offer you, BF EDEN 5K ET! We’ve had high hopes for this female from the moment she was born. Genesis, has been a mainstay name for years now in the Hereford breed, siring high sellers across the country in every facet of the industry. 5K’s dam, 4220, is in our eyes one of our most well-constructed females on the ranch. Look in at 4220’s royal pedigree combining the popular 88X and the matriarch, 7902, who has produced elite cattle throughout the years. When you combine a prolific cow with a generational sire, together the end result you hope for is what stands in front of you in 5K. You will drive the wheels off a truck to find one that can get out and motor better than this girl. We love her spring of rib and depth in her mid-section. She combines so much mass and volume into an ultra-feminine look out through her front end and to top it off she is fully pigmented in both eyes. Numerically, 5K is right for the times in terms of her BW to YW spread with added carcass. Tie on to a female we believe is a donor in waiting. • Top 8% WW, Top 6% YW, Top 8% REA, Top 8% MARB, Top 6% CHB • Bred AI on 5/20/23 to SR Expedition 619G ET. Confirmed Safe to AI date.

Offering part of the flush that has created excitement for performance breeders. We don’t think you will find a better opportunity to acquire donor candidates with such EPD profiles upon which to take a program to the next level. These heifers are full siblings to 111F Next Level ET and 111F Lieutenant, both recently leased to Select Sires. Next Level remains the #1 CHB sire in the breed while pushing the limits for growth and milk along with calving ease.

Pick of FemaleS

For over 40 years we have focused on producing sound, functional females, that excel in maternal traits, and thrive on fescue. These two females represent some of the best of our genetics and exemplify those characteristics. The 323K heifer is out of one of our favorite bulls, LJR MSU Z311 Emblazon 392E, and she ranks in the top 4% of the breed for Marbling, 2% for CHB, and top 1% for WW and YW. The 345K heifer is out of NJW 113D 1010 Tough 126F. She combines a beautiful clean front with plenty of volume and rib shape to go with it. These heifers were pasture exposed to KCF Bennett Resolve G595.

• Every year we search for an animal to put in the national sale that truly represents our program. An animal whose both sides of parentage were raised at Innisfail and have proven to work in harmony with our environment. An animal that is a natural calf, with strong contemporaries, who is the result of a hard-working mother cow. An animal whose genomic predictions suggest that she will be an impactful, profitable investment for her new owner and their customers. • 211K fits the bill. Her genetic makeup represents the nucleus of our cow herd. Her mother, now owned with Boyd Meyer, weaned her off at a 124 WR, at 68% of her mature weight, while simultaneously breeding back AI to achieve a 362-day calving interval. We believe this is the kind of animal whose genetics offer tremendous net profit potential to the beef business. • 211K is a 3/4 sister to our bred heifer lot featured in this same sale last year. Her sister, owned by Day Ridge Farm and Andy Smith, will be on display as a SR Yearling pair right next to her in Oklahoma City. We hope this gives you an expectation of the kind of cow 211K will mature into in production. • Top 5% BMI, MARB, BII, SC; Top 1% CHB, MG, WW, YW • Homozygous polled • Breeding information available sale day • Retaining 2 flushes (embryos/flush)

Pick of Cowherd: Half Interest

With careful consideration and many family discussions, we have decided to offer to the public the option to own half embryo interest in the female of your choice that is solely owned by Brumley Farms. This has not been offered to the public since 2016, and this may be the last time you will get a chance to own your pick of the heart of Brumley Farms. Sale heifers this year boasted a near $10,000 average and embryos averaged just over $1,000. All the dams of these females, and embryos, are included in this offering. We will hold nothing back. This will not only include the cows already in the donor pen. We encourage you to come look through all our females. We will include all bred heifers, spring, and fall calving cows as well. This means you will have the rare opportunity to pick from the very heart of our program. We have built a herd that focuses and stands on structural integrity, udder quality, mothering ability, and longevity. We do not focus on “just another pretty face” we focus on raising females that can raise show heifers that become real cows after their show career. Do not miss this opportunity, as it may never rise again! Call for details. Selling ½ embryo interest. Buyer will receive the first two (2) flushes. Buyer and seller will then rotate or split flushes thereafter. Brumley Farms retains possession, unless otherwise negotiated between buyer and seller. All flush work to be done at Brumley Farms, NV, or Trans Ova Genetics, California.

• Mercedes 11E hits a home run again! There is no introduction needed for the distinguished record of Mercedes 11E. Mercedes herself is past National Hereford Sale highlight from the Atkins/Delaney firm selling to Churchill Cattle Company and Steven Green. Since then, she has made a major impact in the Burns Farms and Cane Creek Cattle Company programs. • P 6MC 11E Benton 2L ET, the maternal brother to GKB Cattle and Copeland & Sons resident herd sire GREEN JCS Makers Mark 229G ET, is an exciting young herd sire prospect that checks all the boxes. With an elite look of quality and his impressive genomic profile we expect 2L to sire dual purpose offspring that will allow his progeny to not only excel in the showring, but to also be profitable when put into production. Here is the good numbered, outcross option that our breed has been searching for. • Ranks in the top 1% of the breed for WW, YW, MG, CW & $CHB. • Terms to be announced prior to sale day.

Pick of Heifer Pen

We wanted to bring something special for our first consignment to the Hereford Night Sale, and this pen of females fits the bill! All three are daughters of JCS Miss Sapphire 6056 ET who was the 2017-2018 Southeast Horned Show Heifer of the Year. She was a Division Champion in Denver and Fort Worth and didn’t leave much for others in the southeast. There is tremendous quality in each female of the pen. They will show hard and then make great cows in production. The toughest decision of the night could be picking your favorite. We’re excited to be bringing this elite group of females to Oklahoma City!

• We are proud to offer one of our best females from our Spring 2023 calf crop in this year’s Hereford Night in OKC! This female has been a true standout since birth — dark red, incredible design, massive foot and bone work, with the added power and mass. The proof is in the pudding, with five full sisters averaging $36,000 in previous sales, and collecting numerous banners at shows across the country. • This female’s dam, GS Magnolia F03 ET “Mags” was successfully campaigned by Mason Allan, winning 2020 National Western Stock Show Reserve Grand Champion Junior Show, and numerous division titles during her show career. Mags F03 has rightfully earned her spot as a lead donor for our program, raising both high quality females and bulls regardless the sire. • While we believe this female will be a strong contender in the May division, we are confident she will be a phenomenal breeding piece for her future owner. • An updated photo and video can be found on our website www.grimmelschaakecattle.com by January 1, 2024. • Grimmel Schaake Cattle Company retains two (2) flushes with a minimum of six (6) Grade one (1) embryos at the seller’s expense and buyer’s convenience.
