We are excited to welcome you to Generations A Family Affair Sale! We are so excited to join the Brancels in another sale. The Brancels and the Merrys each have six generations and 100 plus years of cattle breeders setting the stage for this sale.

This is the 20th production sale for the Merrys. We are so appreciative of our buyers many of which have returned multiple times. When we hear someone say, “Our family bought cattle from your grandfather and great grandfather, that truly captures the consistency and reliability we are striving to achieve. There are two quotes from Gordon Merry and Isabel Brown that guide us.” If you aren’t getting better, you’re falling behind” and “sell your best.” I’ll leave it to you to decide who said what! We are selling our best!

We continue to strive for improvement with each sale. This year our entire herds have been analyzed with Genomic-Enhanced EPDs to improve accuracy. Some of the lots may not have GE-EPDs available in time for the catalog so look for them on sale day.

We are increasingly using ET technology and there are many ET cattle in the sale.

We strive to provide you as much data as possible. Many of the cows have had fetal sexing by ultrasound. The accuracy of this technology is about 90%.

Although we enjoy showing and have done well in the show ring our emphasis is on functional cattle especially maternal traits and providing the best possible product for the consumer of beef. As such we place high value on the maternal EPDs, CHB index, and carcass traits. We value producing a high-quality wholesome protein. That is our future.

Fellow Cattle Breeders, It is with great pride that we welcome you to the 2nd Generations – A Family Affair Sale.

Next Generation is a family effort with my parents, Ben & Gail. Sondra and I are grateful to raise our kids appreciating the responsibility of a cattle operation while learning life lessons. Both of our parents have been strong supporters of our continuation in livestock genetics and we are thankful they have provided us many of opportunities.

This year’s offering is a cross section of our herd. We strongly believe cattle must be efficient in their conversion of forage, be reproductively sound, have good maternal ability and trouble free.

As purebred breeders it is our responsibility to have the discipline to remove undesirable traits and identify underperformance. We run a strict vaccination program and keep our herd health at the forefront of managing our cow herd and cull rigidly to improve the quality of our cow herd.

Our cattle have been used in multiple breed operations in the past, including purebred, crossbreed, and club calf operations with successful outcomes. Harvie Ranching bought our 2nd national sale consignment Next Gen Riesling and have had great results in the show and sale of her first offspring in 2018. The Doyle family purchased a select group of breed Angus females from the Empress cow family that have produced Sim-Angus female progeny that have been competitive on a state and national levels. We are encouraged by our bull progeny performance at the Midland Bull Test in Columbus, Montana, where we have consigned the top-performing and high-selling Hereford bulls the last two years. Midland has allowed us to collect valuable performance data in an unbiased environment as the bull calves develop.

We believe we are making improvements every year that will add value to other cattlemen’s operations whether they are purebred or commercial programs. The power of heterosis is free and we appreciate how the Hereford and Angus genetics complement each other resulting in the great baldly mother cow and feeder cattle that are in high demand by the feedlots. We want to see our cattle succeed for others and we receive great satisfaction in seeing other breeders go on and have success with Next Gen cattle and their offspring.

Terms and Conditions

Payment is due the day of sale; cash or check. All cattle are to be paid for by the purchaser during or immediately after the sale and will not be released until settlement has been made. Registration papers will not be transferred until the animal is paid for in full and will be made at the seller’s expense. All calves born before the sale will be registered by the seller. will not be responsible for any loss or injury after animals are sold. All animals are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of (a) calves under 12 months of age at time of purchase; (b) any female that is placed in an embryo transplant program and subjected to super-ovulation; or (c) gross negligence on the part of the buyer.

Females sold as safe in calf have been examined by a competent veterinarian or have been guaranteed safe in calf through a blood test. In the event an animal is claimed to be a non-breeder, the purchaser may return the animal to the seller’s farm if in good condition and is accompanied with a health certificate indicating that the animal is free from infectious and contagious disease. This is done at purchaser’s expense. The seller is then entitled to six months trial following return of the animal, at which time he will have the opportunity to determine the animal’s breeding ability. If at the end of six months the seller is unable to prove the animal a sound breeder, the seller shall have the option to replace the animal with another of similar quality or offer credit towards the purchase of another animal owned by the seller on another sale. If the seller determines the proven breeding ability of the animal, it shall be the obligation of the purchaser to accept delivery of the animal. All transportation is to be at the purchaser’s expense. THE AFOREMENTIONED TERMS AND CONDITIONS SHALL CONSTITUTE A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE PURCHASER AND SELLER OF EACH ANIMAL SOLD UNDER THESE TERMS AND SHALL BE BINDING UPON BOTH. ANIMALS RESOLD FOLLOWING PURCHASE IN A SALE SHALL CONSTITUTE A SEPARATE TRANSACTION AND THE PRIVILEGES AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE ORIGINAL TWO PARTIES CONNECTED THERETO ARE NOT COVERED BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS SALE. Next Generation Genetics and MGM Polled Herefords believe the future of agriculture lies in the hands of our industry’s hard-working youth. Generations of our families have raised and exhibited cattle. We recognize the dedication required from the entire family to raise and exhibit livestock and we wish to reward our customers who have set and accomplished their goals with animals directly from our programs.

As a small token of our appreciation, all youth who are eligible to exhibit at county,

state or national shows and who purchased a live animal from the Generations – A Family Affair Sale or private treaty directly from Next Generation Genetics or MGM Polled Herefords are eligible for a sale credit towards any future purchase of a Next Generation Genetics or MGM Polled Herefords animal. Credit can be redeemed at a future Generations – A Family Affair Sale or private treaty sale. Other sales that either seller participates in as a consigner are not a part of this program unless the seller specifies as such.

Level 1 Grand Champion Female/Steer Overall at County 4-H/FFA Fair Jr Show — $250 credit Level 2 Grand Champion Breed Female/Steer at State Fairs and State Preview Jr. Shows — $500 credit Level 3 National Majors or Junior National Class Winner — $1,000 credit Level 4 National Majors or Junior National Division Winner — $1,500 credit Level 5 National Majors or Junior National Grand or Reserve Grand Champion — $2,500 credit 1. Animal must be purchased in and remain in the same junior’s name who will be exhibiting the animal throughout the show career of that animal.

2. Animal must be purchased directly from either Next Generation Genetics or MGM Polled Herefords either private treaty or through our sale Generations – A Family Affair Sale. At the time of purchase, junior and parent/guardian must declare their intent to participate in the incentive program by providing the junior exhibitor’s date of birth in addition to the necessary information for transfer of the animal. Embryos, calves in-utero or third-party purchases are not eligible unless approved by the seller.

3. Proof of win must be submitted to the seller within 45 days of the win and include the junior’s name, the animal’s full name and registration number, date of purchase and a high-resolution photo of the exhibitor and the animal at the show won on the proper verification form which can be obtained from the seller upon notification to the seller of win. By submitting this information, the junior and their family is granting permission to use the photo and the information provided in any future advertisements.

4. All awards will be in the form of a sale credit with one exception. In the event a junior who purchases an animal, achieves any/all of the above and is in their final year of eligibility for participation in junior shows, their earned credit may be redeemed in the form of a monetary scholarship towards a short course, 2-year or 4-year post-secondary degree program at any accredited college, university or vocational school. Scholarships will be awarded to an eligible junior upon proof of enrollment and award will be in the form of a joint payable check to the junior and the educational institution.

5. Next Generation Genetics and/or MGM Polled Herefords will award no more than one credit per each of the above-specified levels for a total credit/scholarship not to exceed $5,750 (one award from each level).

6. Next Generation Genetics and MGM Polled Herefords reserve the right to review this program annually and withhold credit/scholarship if evidence of dishonesty and/or violation of breed/show code of ethics is violated.
