To all of you who share the same passion, I write this letter inviting you to our first live auction Fall Female Sale at the ranch. The females on this sale represent our best with nothing held back. At the time of this catalog we still do not know what Hollis will be showing but rest assured the best are offered in this sale.

Hereford cattle have always been on this ranch in central South Dakota, for generations, and location has never changed. Hereford cattle have been the first cattle I can remember, the first I think of when I wake up and the last I think of before I fall asleep. My first registered Hereford heifer that I can remember showing was when I was twelve and she had a successful show career doing some winning, but to be honest I don’t really remember the wins. I remember my friends, the places we traveled and the great cow family she started that still lives on. I remember the time spent at the old barn with family trying to get the whites white, the smell of the vinegar we used to try and get rid of the curls (must not of worked) and the showmanship lessons with dad and grandpa Robert. Since then I have been fortunate to have experienced a few wins and even more defeats. All the learning experiences along the way have helped make breeding decisions to help the ranch and our family excel in the right direction. We as a family have pushed hard, taken on blizzards, droughts and have been lucky enough to have those bountiful years, together.

My beginning in the cattle industry was propelled through 4-H and the Junior Hereford Association. There is not one thing that can more positively impact the success of our youth (besides love and support) than those organizations previously mentioned. It is our job as parents, relatives, friends or even an outsider looking in to guide our youth and to put them in the best situations that we can to help them to be sufficient well rounded and hard working adults.

BREEDING GUARANTEE We guarantee all livestock sold to be sound breeders. However, if we feel that a female has been fed to an extreme level of obesity for the show ring, we hold the feeder responsible for any reproductive problems and no longer feel responsible to guarantee said individual to breed. In the rare case that this should occur, Fawcett’s Elm Creek Ranch will still try and help they owner through two breeding seasons.

Her first flush to Excel was born in the fall of 2017. Hollis showed her August and has been very succesful with her for only being out twice earning division winners and the Champion Female at the South Dakota Hereford Special at the State Fair. Two litter mates were sold by Travis and Beth Pembrook and commanded top dollar at their sale. They have went on to great families and have been representing the ECR prefix to the highest degree while being super competitive at Junior Nationals and other shows in their region. The right to flush any female was sold at the Black Hills Gold Rush Sale for $19,000 and 211 was the cow picked. She is a full sib to many National Champions. She will be a long time donor for our operation and we are inviting you to be co-owners with us on this great donor and the great future that she offers. We might not be well known for our Angus but for those of you who have been following know that Shayne Meyers has shown a couple of division winners at Junior Nationals that have come from us. This Insight out of a Hoffman donor is a beast! Not only does she have the good look of an Angus show heifer she has the power to make a great cow!

Bred Heifers When we ultra-sounded our replacement heifers we sorted off every bred that was carrying a heifer calf. From that group of bred heifers we took out the bottom end. Put all the Undisputed females into the sale group and then sorted every other heifer that came down the alley into the sale pen. It was a stressful thing to do and things were a bit heated while watching a couple of our best go into the sale group but we knew we had to offer our best and that is just what you are getting. You will find females in this group that represent the absolute cream of our crop. There are also two breds that we put into the sale to help those who are wanting to raise show heifers get a jump start. All females were preg checked to have a heifer calf inside but this is not a guarantee, in every process there is room for error. These females are guranteed to be pregnant when loaded to leave.
