Showin’ For the Roses Pick of the Stalls

• Junior state associations have we got an opportunity for you. Show your support of the 2017 Junior National Hereford Expo (JNHE) with the purchase of the Pick of the Stalls in the Louisville barns this summer. The winning bidder takes their pick and prime location in the barns at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center in Louisville, Ky., during the JNHE. Does your state want to be on the main aisle in the West Wing or on the center aisle of the Pavilion and closest to the showring in Broad Bent Arena? The choice is up for grabs and the pick of the barn goes to the highest bidder with all proceeds supporting “Showin’ For the Roses” in Louisville, Ky., July 15-21. This is an excellent way for states who may not ever be able to host the JNHE to step up and show their support of the event and to secure, the best spot in the barn. If an individual is the winning bidder they will have pick for their state junior association.

Pick must be made by June 1, 2017 Contact Amy Cowan for more information: 818-842-3757 1

Very rarely are we willing to part with one with this much power and predictability in her pedigree and maternal look. This paternal sister to CRR About Time 743 out of our promising young donor, Miley, a Purple Milsap out of an UPS Odyssey 1ET daughter who weaned her first two calves with an avg. WW ration of 120. This pedigree makes her a maternal sister to the 2016 KY State Fair Champion Bull, GCC Captain. Clara ranks in the top 10% of the Hereford female population for WW, M&G and $CHB, all the while posting a 3.8 CED. Her sire is a 10-trait leader and is producing the most sought after cattle in the country. Study this maternal fronted, easy fleshing, superbly designed female who hits the ground as square as can ask one to, and then you will see what makes this female so hard to let go. This halter broke fall baby has already made it to the backdrop as the Reserve Bred and Owned Fall Division Champion at the 2016 Southeast Regional Hereford Show. • Check out her video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4iw96he2xE

It’s not always easy to find open heifers with the phenotypic advantages that it takes to compete in the ring and the kind of genotypic advantages on paper that give them a future past the halter…this one does just that. A quick look at her photo speaks clearly enough about her phenotypic prowess, but make sure you take a longer look at this one on paper. Her numbers are off the charts good and we went ahead and gave you the added accuracy with genomically enhanced EPDs. Awesome opportunity for the NJHA exhibitor looking for a project for the 2017 Junior National in Louisville. If you are normally a bred heifer or cow kind of guy/gal, we wouldn’t call you crazy for looking here either.

She already knows where the backdrop is. She was named Champion Hereford Heifer Calf and Reserve Grand Champion Hereford Female at the Berrien County Youth Fair. This Easy Money heifer calf has the genetic package to win at the next level. Coupled with her phenotype she is freaky fronted, deep sided, long spine and a sound-footed female. Her mother is in our donor pen at SHF Cattle Co. Her mother was also named 4th Overall at the Michigan Beef Expo. Nellie also had a ½ maternal sib named Champion Hereford Female at the Michigan Beef Expo. Take this one home and show her until her show career is over and then make room in your donor pen.

She has depth, length, bone mass, and very dark red. Her pedigree goes back to several legends in the Hereford breed, both top and bottom sides as you can see. We have shown her at the Kentucky State Fair and in state shows as well. She’s no stranger to the show ring. Has a 26 on $CHB, and a 1.5 on CE. Juniors don’t forget about the 2017 National Jr. Hereford Show right her in Louisville. She can stand a lot of competition during show season. Queen Ten has all kinds of potential as a brood cow in the pasture field for years to come, as she is the type and kind of easy keeping females that we strive for at add to our cow herds. Junior, don’t overlook her in the stalls at NAILA!! A diamond in the rough!

You will love the way she is marked with her super dark color and pigmented eyes, but when you actually study her you will see she is super sound, long spined and smooth made. Darla will be fun to show but a assure you her real value will be noticed she she goes into production. I could write a book on what her mother, 9T has done here at Happ Herefords. 9T is the model cow and still has a picture perfect udder even at 9 years old. She is also the mother of our young herd bull, HAPP BK VALOR 37C, who you will be hearing a lot more from in the near future. Don’t miss out on this one. Retaining one future successful flush.

• First of the Premonition calves to sell and this one is typical of what he can do; great shaped from any angle tight necked and sheathed with a boxy hip on him and an added bonus this ones sound and good footed. I wouldn’t bother taking a steer to Louisville unless he was a superstar that would do his sire justice. He’ll look awesome when he comes back to Louisville for Junior Nationals.
