The Wisconsin Junior Hereford Association (WJHA) offers opportunities for gaining leadership and personal development skills through activities that increase knowledge of the beef industry, showing and exhibition, cattle management, and more! The WJHA wishes to thank all of the generous volunteers over the years for donating their time and resources to support the WJHA. Special thanks and appreciation go to following farms for providing the yearly Donation Heifer that is sold raffle-style at the Wisconsin Hereford Association (WHA) Spring Sale, a great tradition started by Steiny’s Polled Herefords, and continued by the Mark Friedrich Family, SNL’s Whitetail Farm, Owego Stock Farm, Bacon Branch Beef, Wildcat Cattle Company, C & B Farms, and MGM Herefords. Monies raised by the sale of the donation heifer are used for scholarships, educational events, and other programs supporting the kids of the WJHA. WHA FOLOW Conference (Faces of Leadership of Wisconsin) at Windy Hills Herefords, Roberts, Wis. The Conference also toured WHA Members Larson Hereford Farms, Spring Valley, Wis., and UW River Falls, Mann Valley Lab farm. There were educational sessions at UW River Falls, and throughout the conference, learning about ultrasound, cattle judging, meat processing, leadership activities, resume building, and more!

Hello WHA Directory Readers,
My name is Morgan Firlus, and I am ecstatic to be serving as your 2025 Wisconsin Hereford Queen!
I am from Wonewoc, Wisconsin, which is where my love for Hereford cattle began. Alongside my parents, Scott and Kelly Firlus, and my brother Dawson, I’ve grown up raising and showing Herefords as part of our family operation — Crooked Creek Herefords. At Crooked Creek, we’re passionate about raising top-quality females that shine both in the show ring and in real world production.
The Wisconsin Hereford Association (WHA) and Wisconsin Junior Hereford Association (WJHA) have had a tremendous impact on my life. From the moment I became involved, I’ve felt welcomed and supported. I’m so grateful for the incredible opportunities provided to youth in the Hereford community. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of attending the Junior National Hereford Expo for eight years, where I’ve not only exhibited cattle but also competed in events like Livestock Judging and Extemporaneous Speaking.
Since becoming a WJHA member in 2016, I’ve actively participated in events such as the Preview Show, Wisconsin State Fair, World Beef Expo, and many more. I was also honored to serve as a Hereford Princess, a role that allowed me to meet many WHA breeders and proudly represent the association at various events across the state.
In May 2025, I wrapped up my freshman year at Kansas State University, where I’m majoring in Animal Science with a minor in Agricultural Communications. I’m passionate about sharing the story of agriculture and plan to pursue a career where I can advocate for our industry and educate consumers about agriculture’s vital role in their daily lives. On campus, I’m involved in Block and Bridle and serve as a College of Agriculture Ambassador—one of my favorite ways to help recruit future Wildcats to the college of ag!
I am incredibly excited to embrace this opportunity as your queen. I can’t wait to connect with many of you throughout the year, represent this amazing breed, and continue learning through the conversations and connections we’ll share. Here’s to an unforgettable year ahead!

WHA Female Grant Program
Two WJHA members have been named as 2025 winners for the WHA Female Grant program. The purpose of the grants is to assist WJHA youth members in purchasing a Hereford female to start building their own herd. The grants are funded by the Wisconsin Hereford Association (WHA), and the consignors of the WHA Spring Sale. Of the two grants, the consignor-sponsored grant can be used only at the Wisconsin Spring Sale. The WHA-sponsored grant could be used to purchase a Hereford female from any WHA member in good standing, and may be used at any date before December 31.
