We don’t just take you off the beaten path, we take you off-the-charts...

We turn your life back home completely off so you can truly live in the moment.

How? By taking you off-the-map, off-the-grid, and even off-Google to find hidden gems no one else knows about. By planning off-the-chain trips that blow the roof off your expectations. By going off-the-wall to try new things; off-the-cuff to keep things spontaneous; and off-menu to ensure every bite is unforgettable. After six decades of Slowing Down to See the World, our advice? Tune in to B&R and turn completely off.

Let your journey begin.

60 Years of Wanderlust.

For a lot of people, turning 60 comes with knee pain, a gold watch and the irresistible urge to buy a red sports car. Here at B&R, it’s come with a renewed sense of vigour and thirst for adventure.

This year we’re celebrating our 60th with our boldest journey yet: “Around the World in 60 Days,” an extravaganza that was recently honoured with a very flattering award for industry innovation. And since we’ve never been ones to rest on our laurels, we’ve expanded our Small Group trip portfolio to include exciting regions like Mexico and Slovenia; put a new creative spin on our itineraries in Bali, Türkiye and New Zealand; and created epic Limited Edition trips in places as vibrant and varied as Uruguay, Oaxaca and Namibia.

This fall, while we gear up for all our 60th celebrations in 2026, we will both be cycling up a storm. One of us will be riding through Piemonte (Mike) while the other will be pedalling his way around Slovenia (George)… then we’ll both converge at our end-of-season guide gathering in the Prosecco hills of the Veneto.

Of course, the spectacular places we visit are only half the story: how we travel matters just as much. Every B&R trip is now fully carbon neutral—a huge milestone on our path toward greater sustainability.

Here’s to 60 years of intimate adventures—and many more to come.

See you on the road,

George Butterfield & Mike Scarola

George Butterfield, Co-founder of B&R, with Mike Scarola, our fearless leader.

Only B&R

Often imitated. Never replicated.

At B&R, we’ve elevated the craft of planning adventures to an art form. We’ve gone way beyond the norm to create a new standard of travel for one very simple reason: Your time is precious. When you’re travelling halfway around the world, you deserve a journey that doesn’t just delight, but transcends.

Our Guides

B&R guides help you embrace spontaneity, delve deep into the local culture, and soak up every experience. They are consummate hosts and the most fun and convivial people you’ll ever meet.

Cultural Immersion

We help you bond with all our local friends—the best chefs, vintners, organic farmers, historians, architects, artists—and slip you in the back door of everywhere worth going.

Our Experience Designers

Our Experience Designers have spent years immersing themselves in their regions, and they know every country lane, quiet path and jaw-dropping view like the back of their hand.

Your Pace

At B&R, you always go at your own pace. You don’t feel any pressure to stick with the peloton because, well, there is no peloton. And the support van? Always there when you need it.

Unique Hotels

Our hotels aren’t generic five-stars —we search long and hard for hotels that are experiences unto themselves. Our groups are small so we can stay in intimate, one-of-a-kind gems.

Food & Wine

We don’t just soak up the local culture, we ingest it. Grilling squid on the beach with the fisherman who caught it? Dining in an 800-year-old wine cellar with the vintner? That’s more our palate.

How We Travel

At B&R, you can travel with our friends— every bit as fabulous as you are—or you can travel with your own friends or family on a private Bespoke adventure. Either way, you’ll experience the trip of a lifetime.

Privatized Group Trips Bespoke Travel

Bring your own gang and have it all to yourselves. Want to set your very own guest list? Be our guest. Simply wrangle a group of eight or more friends, family members or colleagues, pick a Small Group trip, settle on a departure date, and go. Privatizing a Small Group trip means all you have to do is board the plane.

Go Bespoke. Return Bespeechless. How big is your dream? Small? Medium? Large? Jumbo? Our team of dream-weavers-cum-ExperienceDesigners will craft a Bespoke journey just for you. A multi-generational family getaway? A celebration with your best friends? Just say the word and we’ll start weaving our magic.

Small Group Trips

Our Small Group trips pull together like-minded fellow wanderers for the trip of a lifetime. We float up mountains together, sip Barolos together, poke around castles together, and puff our way to the top of Tuscan hills together. These are fully guided trips with detailed itineraries that we pay strict attention to—or not! On a B&R trip, there’s always room for spontaneity.

Self-Guided

You’re on your own (but we’ve always got your back). Looking for a little more intimacy? Like to be self-reliant? Self-Guided trips combine the hallmarks of B&R (superb hotels, amazing local friends, stunning routes) with the freedom of pacing each day exactly the way you like. Your B&R Local Host is always just a phone call away.

How We Move

Whether you go by bike, by foot, by yacht, by horse, by yak or by dogsled, we will fully immerse you in your journey. We’ll make sure you have all the time in the world to stop and smell the wild rosemary. There are many ways to move with B&R, but it doesn’t really matter which you choose. We always end up at the same destination: a place of deep connection and utter bliss.

How do you want to move?

Biking

On a B&R bike trip, you don’t just feel at one with your bike—you feel at one with the glorious landscape unfolding all around you.

On routes designed to take you completely off-Google, putting one foot in front of the other always leads us to the most perfect views.

Walking & Hiking Multi-Active By Sea

Sail, swim, hike, bike, zip-line and play boules—all on the same day! We’ll make sure you don’t just see it all, but you DO it all.

It’s everything you ever wanted in a B&R trip, except your boutique hotel floats. Explore a coastline for days. Unpack only once.

Limited Edition

When we say these are once-in-a-lifetime adventures, we mean it. These trips sell out quickly, so call us tout suite.

Women’s Only

Designed by women, for women… with special stops along the way to meet amazing women doing amazing things.

Winter Adventures Multi-Country

Swap your bike for snowshoes, Nordic skis and snowmobiles; embrace the sauna culture; and lean into the magic of winter.

Experience the thrill of traversing two or more countries, each with its own rich culture. Travel without borders—or limits.

SIBIU, ROMANIA

60 Years of Freewheeling

After 60 years, we’ve learned that, even with the world’s best Experience Designers at our disposal, the best moments can’t be planned, programmed or predicted. They have to be unlocked—usually by people who feel like old friends five minutes after meeting them, and preferably over shared meals, quiet side streets and a heavy pour of serendipity.

Champagne, anyone?

To celebrate 60 years of epic adventure, we’re unveiling Around the World in 60 Days —six unforgettable journeys stitched together with all the requisite B&R flair we could muster. From Mexico to Vietnam, Rajasthan to Morocco, and Türkiye to Burgundy, this bold trip collection is a paean to how we experience the world: up close and in deep.

Around the World in 60 Days with B&R

We’re celebrating our 60th in true B&R fashion: with epic, expertly planned adventures that make average vacations look like coffee breaks. Designed to fit seamlessly together, you can join one—or combine several for an even greater journey.

Morocco

After decades of searching for the true heart of Morocco, we’ve realized that the only way to truly find it is to venture (way) off the beaten path. Luckily, our compass has always been a little offkilter. Explore the breathtaking High Atlas mountains, delve into remote Berber villages, break bread and sip mint tea with our local friends, stay at a stunning riad, and stroll through wondrous Marrakech.

South Africa

Experience South Africa at its most dazzling—where vineyards tumble toward the sea and bold reds rival the sunsets. From rugged wilderness to Cape Fold peaks, every single sip and sight reminds you why this country is endlessly unforgettable.

Vast red dunes, endless coasts and wildlife straight out of a nature doc—Namibia is big, bold and breathtaking. Pedal through desert peaks, watch elephants gather at Etosha’s watering holes, meet nomadic Himba, sip wine in Bavarian-flavoured Swakopmund and discover cultures as rich as the landscapes.

Namibia

South Africa Biking

South Africa was made for cyclists. From rugged coastal cliffs to vineyard-laced valleys, this journey dives deep into the spectacular heart of South Africa’s stunning Western Cape. Cycle through fragrant fynbos, sip award-winning wine right where it’s grown, and uncover the region’s rich history—from famed mission towns to the inspiring legacy of Nelson Mandela. With every spin, you’ll experience a place where culture, cuisine, and natural beauty collide in all the best ways.

HIGHLIGHTS

From coastal cliffs and fragrant fynbos to vineyard valleys and dramatic mountain passes, explore the heart of South Africa’s Western Cape on two wheels.

“South Africa is a country of magic, colours, beautiful energy but, most of all, ubuntu. What a word! How much it has to teach societies in the world. Butterfield & Robinson made sure we captured the essence of the country, beyond the fine dining and five-star accommodations.”

Enjoy behind-the-scenes experiences with passionate locals—like private tastings at Lomond and a curated gallery walk with a local art expert in Franschhoek.

A hidden sanctuary seemingly untouched by time, we like to think of Bhutan as a modern miracle. In this mystical kingdom, the thin mountain air carries a profound sense of peace; colourful prayer flags flutter in the breeze; and ancient monasteries cling to the cliffs, watching over the emerald valleys below. Here, snow-capped peaks rise majestically in the distance—and your spirit soars right along with them.

In this magical corner of Southeast Asia, history, flavour, and natural beauty intertwine in unforgettable ways. In Cambodia, ancient temples rise from the jungle while vibrant markets buzz with life. In Vietnam, UNESCO-protected wonders and lush landscapes blend seamlessly with an astonishing variety of cuisines and traditions. And across both countries, warm smiles and old friendships have kept us coming back for decades.

Thailand & Laos

The wonderful riddle of contemporary Japan is how wholeheartedly it has embraced all things modern—all the while retaining the customs of times past. This is truly a land of contrasts: from the bright lights and chaos of Tokyo to the elegance and history of UNESCO-protected Kyoto. It has the most serene and picturesque pockets —places with marvellous, meticulously tended gardens, centuries-old temples and remarkable mountain vistas.

A remarkable country of romance, colours and spices, Sri Lanka stays with you long after you’ve returned home. From lush tea plantations to golden beaches, the stunning landscapes provide the perfect backdrop for adventure. And the palate-tingling cuisine and unique culture—a blend of Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences intertwined with rich Sri Lankan history—create a deeply rooted experience that’s both timeless and unforgettable.

Thailand and Laos achieve an impressive balancing act few places can match, exuding rustic beauty, serene elegance and kinetic energy in equal measure. From Thailand’s lush mountains, tropical rainforests and bustling streets to Laos’ tranquil rivers, hidden caves and postcard-perfect sunsets, opportunities abound for adventure, tranquility, or the perfect blend of both, all of it paired with unforgettable cuisine, soothing spas and welcoming cultures.

Beaches, fjords, vineyards, and glaciers. Rainforests, plains, meadows, and soaring mountains. Down here, beauty is served raw and unfiltered. You see it carved deep in the face of mighty Mount Cook. It’s shimmering brightly in the turquoise waters of Lake Tekapo, spread across the sheep-sprinkled farmlands that line the South Island, and (most importantly) it’s on the welcoming faces of our Kiwi friends who can’t wait to show you around.

India

India doesn’t do subtle. One moment you’re in a bustling bazaar, the next a quiet valley; one bite is fire, the next pure bliss. It’s colour, chaos, history and heart, all colliding in a sensory overload that leaves no room for indifference. Here, every sight, sound, taste and encounter is unforgettable. Bring curiosity (and stretchy pants).

New Zealand

Thailand to Laos Multi-Active

Ancient rituals, jungle trails, gilded temples and markets that hum with life—this journey through Thailand and Laos is a feast for the senses. Pedal past rice paddies and hill tribe villages, cruise the Mekong and witness the quiet grace of Luang Prabang’s morning almsgiving. Add in warm hospitality and flavourful cuisine and you’ve got a trip that lingers long after the wheels stop turning.

HIGHLIGHTS

This might have the most impressive roster of hotels of any trip in our portfolio, including a stay at the “five-stars somehow aren’t enough” Amantaka in Laos.

Ride through rice paddies, forested hills, and riverside villages; hike lush jungle trails; and cruise the winding Mekong—this trip offers an unforgettable glimpse into Southeast Asia’s natural beauty.

Savour the world-renowned flavours of fresh, authentic Thai food, created with locally sourced ingredients and shared in the welcoming home of our friends.

Switzerland

What do you get when you merge French, Italian and German culture with lush green valleys, glaciated peaks, luxe hotels, and adrenaline-pumping Alpine activities? The locals call it Suisse, Schweiz or Svizzero, depending on who you ask. But when you’re skiing its pristine slopes, hiking through flower-filled meadows, or indulging in world-class cuisine, we bet you’ll have another name for it: “Heaven.”

Germany

From the pulsating energy of Berlin to historic Potsdam and the treasure that is Dresden today, Germany still resonates as a flashpoint in history—but also a country with a progressive edge. Imagine following paths through villages, feasting on baroque architecture, grand opera, lush forests, fantastic meals and fine wines. Shall we go on?

Austria

With endless rivers, crumbling castles and extraordinary beauty, Austria is a welcoming land rich with surprises. Each bend in the river offers a new castle to explore or a breathtaking view upon which to linger. It’s a land where you can explore towns seemingly frozen in time, fill up with a hearty bowl of goulash, pass lush forests, visit cellars, taste wines and marvel at spectacular monasteries all within miles of each other.

Hungary

Hungary, one of Europe’s most underrated destinations, will surprise you at every turn! Home to wine regions that are as culturally and oenologically rich as France (yes, France), it is rapidly gaining prominence in the wine world while quietly continuing its timehonoured traditions. As for its cuisine, Hungarian paprika makes it as fiery and colourful as the national character.

Switzerland Biking

Switzerland serves up the good life—Alpine views, vineyard spins, and cheese aged with near-religious devotion. Glide effortlessly past glaciers, lakes, and those famously contented cows. Lunch in a mountain hut, cross a sky-high suspension bridge, and wrap up in chic Bern. With alpenhorns, locals, and fondue-fuelled charm, this ride is peak Switzerland (pun very much intended).

HIGHLIGHTS

Experience the best biking routes in the country—with quiet roads, bike paths and various terrain linking one stunning destination to the next.

After a day of pedalling, unwind in world-class hotels that exude lakeside grandeur, mountain chic and big-city elegance.

Switzerland’s scenery is pure postcard perfection—matched only by villages so neat you’ll wonder if the entire country’s expecting guests. (Spoiler alert: they are. And it’s you.)

Croatia

Let us introduce you to the secret life of Dalmatia—a life of sun, song, and serenity. Here, you can indulge in superb food and wine, bask in the warm Mediterranean breeze, luxuriate on private beaches, or invigorate on coastal bike rides and tranquil walks through picturesque villages. Over 1,000 islands, islets and reefs protect the mainland of Croatia and Montenegro, providing an idyllic setting for exploration, relaxation and adventure.

In Northern Greece, ancient myths meet mountain magic in a region worthy of the Gods. Ride past jawdropping gorges, olive groves, and Olympus itself, then tuck into homecooked feasts with locals who treat you like family. With canyon views, rustic wines, and monasteries clinging to cliffs, this is Greece with grit, soul and endless stories etched in stone.

In Romania, time seems to stand still. Gothic churches rise majestically, horsedrawn carts still clatter along the roads, the land is worked by hand as it has been for centuries, and craggy mountains dot a landscape that feels untouched by the march of industrialism. From Europe’s best-preserved medieval citadel to steam train rides through charming countryside, history doesn’t come back to life here—it never went away.

Tucked away between Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary, Slovenia is hard to find—and incredibly welcoming to those who do. Iceland & The Faroe Islands

In Iceland, nature’s raw power and serene beauty blend seamlessly. Vast lava fields stretch out beneath towering waterfalls, while geothermal hot springs invite you to relax in the warmth of a land sculpted by fire and ice. And the Faroes? With its cliffs jutting out of the sea? Its verdant mountains and colourful villages? Off. The. Charts. We can’t wait to introduce you.

England charms without even trying— rolling hills, seaside villages and countryside straight out of a Jane Austen fever dream. Cycle coastal Cornwall, ramble through the Lakes or sip your way through the Cotswolds. With farm-fresh feasts, cozy manor stays and just the right amount of literary name-dropping, this is England with all the polish and none of the pretence.

Let’s get the obvious out of the way first: yes, there’s world-class whisky— and our friends in the Highlands will be more than happy to pour you a dram of Scotland’s finest. But beyond the spirits, there are also rugged landscapes and misty lochs that evoke a sense of wild majesty, ancient castles that stand as guardians of a storied past, and rolling highlands that beckon you to roam.

In the land of windmills, tulips, and legendary paintings, your journey will be nothing short of a masterpiece. Meander through a landscape shaped by centuries of artistry and innovation, where endless towpaths, bike paths, polders, and dikes crisscross the charming countryside and picturesque towns. Much of the Netherlands lies below sea level, but the highs are everywhere.

Wales is wild, windswept, and just the right amount of mysterious. Walk coastal cliffs in Pembrokeshire, climb legendsoaked Cadair Idris, and ramble through ruins older than most countries. With farm-fresh feasts, ancient forts, and folklore around every bend, this Celtic adventure proves that sometimes the best way to explore is one footstep—and fable—at a time.

Home to Viking myths, fairy sprites, and breathtaking landscapes, travelling here feels less like a trip and more like an epic adventure. Wander through the ruins of ancient battlefields, marvel at the grandeur of sprawling fjords and ancient cliffs that stretch out into the horizon, enjoy some foot-stomping folk music, and toast friends new and old with an uproarious “Skål!”

Iceland & Faroe Islands Hiking

Head north—way north—to Iceland and the Faroes, where landscapes feel plucked from fantasy novels. Hike glaciers and volcanic moonscapes, then soak in the Blue Lagoon’s surreal warmth. In the Faroes, trek cliffsides, discover villages so charming it’s downright suspicious, and meet locals eager to spill island secrets.

Visit a local farmer’s home—the oldest wooden house in the Faroe Islands—and savour a locally sourced, home-cooked meal.

Wander through remote villages and untouched lands, where you’ll witness waterfalls flowing down steep hillsides and puffin colonies.

After a day of hiking, retreat to Iceland’s most luxurious and iconic hotel, The Retreat at the Blue Lagoon.

Alsatians are proud people with a rich history. Through successive invasions, occupations and annexations, they’ve fought to sustain a distinct identity— in their culture, their cuisine, and their deliciously peppery white wines. Bike between the Rhine River and the foothills of the Vosges. Visit medieval castles and ancient fortified towns. Explore one of France’s hidden treasures, and enjoy a unique blend of French and German cultural heritage.

WHERE WE GO
Alsace

In all our years, we’ve sampled few pairings finer than Bordeaux, land of legendary wine with equally lauded biking, and the Dordogne—verdant capital of foie gras. Explore the endless underground galleries of Rouffignac to discover 13,000-year-old prehistoric art. Ride right into the heart of SaintÉmilion, and through the lush countryside of Dordogne. Taste the very best of the region at private wine-making and châteaux tastings.

This is our second home (and first love), and we’re dying to show you around.

So we told Ninie—aka Eugénie Weiss, our Beaune-based Experience Designer— to go wild. And boy, did she ever.

In the ancestral home of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, you’ll drink in stunning landscapes, legendary Grands Crus, invigorating walks and rides, Michelinstarred repasts and some truly extraordinary country fare (at local haunts only we could find).

Of all the jewels in the Mediterranean, none shine as brightly as Corsica. White cliffs, azure lagoons, ultramarine blue skies and soaring mountains all welcome you to an island that’s been warred over for centuries (and served as the preferred retreat of celebrities since the 1950s). Not quite French and not really Italian either, Corsica’s spellbinding idiosyncrasies make it a poet’s paradise just waiting to be discovered.

In the valley of kings, we’ll roll out the red carpet for you. You’ll stay in grand châteaux, where each room whispers tales of royalty. You’ll visit Touraine and think you’ve died and gone to epicurean heaven. You’ll enjoy a sumptuous dinner at the stately and stunning Château du Rivau. There are centuries of history here. We will take you straight to the heart of it—and treat you like royalty.

With its lavender fields, sun-soaked villages, and endless blue skies, Provence’s picture-perfect beauty can seem almost unreal. Maybe that’s why we’ve always been drawn to the lesser-known, hidden heart of Provençal life: games of boules with our friend Bernard, nights in the magical Le Couvent des Minimes and wine tastings with local friends. So, is the real Provence as good as it looks in the postcards? No—it’s even better.

History comes to life here—and you will too. More than eight decades after D-Day, let a deep appreciation for life wash over you as you ride past white sand beaches and memorial markers. Feel the past and present merge as you sip Calvados with local nobility, learning stories passed down through generations, and experience the ethereal beauty of Mont Saint-Michel, whose rising tides and medieval streets transport you to another time.

Two castles, countless vineyards, and a dash of Joan of Arc (BYO armour). Pedal the Loire’s dreamy countryside from the art-forward forest sanctuary of Loire Valley Lodges to historic Château du Rivau (dibs on Joan’s room, anyone?). Sip top-tier wines, marvel at over-the-top architecture, and relish landscapes so impossibly romantic even cynics swoon.

HIGHLIGHTS

Explore (and in some cases, sleep) in some of the most beautiful châteaux in the world—from well-known Chambord to smaller, privately owned châteaux.

The Loire Valley is a cyclist’s paradise—from the gently rolling hills in the Chinon vineyards to pristine landscapes dotted with medieval villages.

Touraine is rich in tasty local products and is full of delicious wines. Indulge in local gastronomy with a variety of meals, from picnics to farm-to-table bistros and Michelin-star restaurants.

“A dream place”—that’s how John Steinbeck described the Amalfi Coast. And when you see it, you’ll understand why. Hike the Path of the Gods. Luxuriate in iconic hotels (we stay at Le Sirenuse, just like Steinbeck). Indulge in sumptuous fresh seafood and unique local fare (hello, limoncello). Dream place? This is more like a fantasy land—but then, who are we to correct a Nobel laureate?

In the Dolomites, the natural splendour feels more like something out of a dream. Mist-shrouded mountaintops rise above fairy-tale villages, while overflowing flower boxes, bulbous domes of baroque churches and log farmhouses dot sprawling valley floors. Traverse the lightly travelled pathways, and indulge in a visual feast for the eyes that’s (almost) as good as the actual feast waiting for you at the end of each day.

ITALIAN LAKES, ITALY

Nestled cosily between the Alps and the Swiss border, the Italian Lakes are grandeur and elegance incarnate. A lofty claim, we know, but once you’ve laid eyes on this land of perched villas and verdant hills, you’ll forgive us our hyperbole—and indulge in some of your own. Here, truly incredible walks lead us to unforgettable, authentic meals at opulent waterfront resorts. This is a “week at the lake” done right: in grand, decadent Old-World fashion.

We won’t wax on too long about this gourmand’s paradise—we wouldn’t want word to get out. In Piemonte, you’ll picnic in private vineyards, meet warm, down-to-earth locals, explore rolling hills dotted with medieval towns, and feel the thrill of rooting for truffles alongside the Christopher Columbus of truffle hunters, who happens to be an adorable dog. Yes, you can bring home the wine... But no, you can’t bring home the Italians (we asked).

Between the sun-soaked villages, UNESCO-protected trulli, glorious olive groves, delicious all-organic food, and perfect Primitivo, Puglia has a way of making everything more sumptuous. Mozzarella just tastes more delicious when sampled at a cheese-making demo. Cycling is somehow more serene along the azure coast of the Adriatic. And, of course, a post-ride aperitivo is even more refreshing when sipped in our friend’s private garden.

From the rumbling giant that is Mount Etna (and the earthy vintages that spring from their namesake volcanic appellation), legends loom large here. And so will you, as we take in the very best the island has to offer. Walk seaside trails that finish high in the Mediterranean sky, marvel at the Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo, and get up close in baroque Noto, the “Ingenious City,” where every corner holds a story waiting to be discovered.

Soak up quintessential Italian landscapes and drink in golden-hued horizons in two of Italy’s—and for that matter, the world’s—most sumptuous regions. We’ll languidly follow olive-lined paths along the Celle di San Francesco, journeying to bustling Cortona. We offer a seamless route through these exquisite and iconic regions. (And by “seamless,” we mean less climbing on buses, and more up-to-your-neck deep dives into immersion.)

In a corner of Italy where the Prosecco is local, the pasta is rolled fresh, and the sun-drenched hills go on for miles, you’ll find invigoration, indulgence and inspiration in equal measure. Ride from the UNESCO-protected Prosecco hills to the shimmering Lago di Garda, dine with our friend the Count of Vidor at his home (which happens to be a private abbey), and savour grappa in the place it was born.

Sicily’s been wooing visitors for millennia—and with seaside trails, baroque towns, and volcanic drama, it’s easy to see why. Walk from ancient ruins to almond farms, feast in a winemaker’s home, and live la dolce vita at the Belmond in Taormina. With Mount Etna as your backdrop, this is indulgence with just the right edge.

Settle in to the most exquisite hotels, ending with two nights at the iconic Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo.

Immerse yourself in Sicily’s unique culture, where ancient Greek heritage and late baroque elegance have shaped a distinctive identity.

Experience an island of extremes with the diverse, picturesque landscapes of Noto, Mount Etna and the beautifully famous town of Taormina.

Straddling the border between France and Spain, many historians believe the Basques are Europe’s oldest civilization, which makes sense, because this feels like a place that’s been perfecting the good life for centuries. The people have undeniable zeal, the coast unforgettable views, and San Sebastián has more Michelin stars per capita than almost anywhere else on earth.

Mallorca & Menorca

12thC Christians considered the “Way of St. James” one of the most spiritual routes on the planet. Doing the astounding emerald-green Camino (less the robes) is a mission for us, too. We soak up everything—from the mountains and forests to the medieval towns and monasteries. And if that’s not soul-stirring enough, wait till you see the five-star Reis Catolicos. Your epiphany awaits.

We can’t remember when, exactly, we first fell in love with Mallorca and Menorca—but we’re pretty sure it was somewhere between the cobalt waters, pearly beaches, and stunning views of the coast. But then, it might have been while staying in gasp-worthy hotels. Or sipping wine on our friend’s private patio. Or sipping a dusky cup of café con leche the next morning. Or…

Proud, independent and rich with heritage, this is the land that inspired the likes of Picasso, Dali and Gaudi—and you don’t need to be an artistic genius to understand why. Spot the peaks of the Pyrénées while volcanic flats stretch ahead. Explore villages shaped by medieval craftsmen. Nosh on tapas paired with a perfect vintage, then head to bed in an auberge or palatial hotel.

Riding in Rioja is a sensory experience. Your eyes won’t believe the groundbreaking architecture. Your body will luxuriate in the five-star Abadia Retuerta Le Domaine Hotel. Your ears will be filled with the meditative rush of the breeze. Your tastebuds will never tire of the tapas, pintxos, barbecued meats and world-class wine. Oh, and your mind? Totally and utterly blown.

Basque Country: France to Spain

Walking & Hiking

Walk from France to Spain (passport optional, appetite mandatory) through Basque Country, where sheep bells ring and jagged cliffs hover above wave-battered shores. Wander postcard-perfect villages, stroll lush Pagoeta Park, and see geology throw a tantrum at Flysch Geopark. End in San Sebastián, swapping your trail boots for pintxos, vino and an evening of culinary mischief at a secret Gastronomic Society.

HIGHLIGHTS

Hike along the breathtaking Flysch geological formation—where rocky cliffs were shaped over 65 million years.

Gain insider access and learn how to play the txalaparta, a traditional local Basque instrument, first-hand.

Between a local pintxos tour and dinner at the Gastronomic Society, you’ll indulge in authentic gastronomic experiences.

Our Travellers

The Most Interesting People in the World

You can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep, and you’ll keep company with some of the best. Congenial, curious and interesting, our travellers share a zest for life, an appetite for adventure and a passion for finding new paths (and, more often than not, forging new friendships). They’re uniquely interesting, insatiably curious, and incredibly fun to be around—which is probably why so many of them stay in touch with each other after their trip.

Our Guides

Your Consummate Hosts

Our guides possess the expertise of a secret agent and the joie de vivre of an escaped goat. They’re ready to build an aqueduct, scale a mountain, sing an aria, or host a dinner for discerning travellers. Beyond charm and knowledge, they bring depth to every journey. With backgrounds like sommeliers and historians, they enrich each adventure. Above all, they’re passionate about the regions they explore and aim to make every destination come alive.

Our Experience Designers

The Picassos of Their Field

Our designers are former signature B&R guides with decades of knowledge, hundreds of trips under their belt, dozens of local friends, and, often, their own homes in the regions they cover. But their real specialty is translating their experience into your experience: they plan events you’d never expect, arrange meetings you’ll never forget, and open doors to places you’d never find on your own (think private homes, ancient cellars, and tucked-away castles).

Activity Levels

“How fit do I need to be?”

It’s a common question, and the answer is simple: as fit as you are now.

We create trips for all activity levels, offering flexibility so travellers can comfortably enjoy their adventure at their own pace. To help you choose the right trip, we classify them by daily distance and terrain difficulty. Activity levels range from 1 (occasional walker) to 4 (avid athlete). For bike trips, e-bikes are also available for a boost.

We also understand that preferences vary within groups, so you can always choose to add extra mileage to a ride— or skip it entirely and head to the spa instead. (Bliss!)

The B&R Slow Fund

For us, ethical tourism isn’t something we practise when it’s convenient: it’s a full-time commitment. We tread softly and give back wherever we travel. Through our Slow Fund, we invest in projects that focus on conservation, education and community engagement.

A few of our current initiatives:

Musika Etxea

Basque Country, Spain

At the heart of Vitoria-Gasteiz, Musika Etxea keeps Basque traditions alive through music, dance, and cultural exchange. With help from the Slow Fund, the academy has been able to commission new instruments and continue teaching rare folk sounds like the txalaparta, alboka, and txirula. These efforts ensure that the heritage of the Basque people is not only preserved but also passed on, resonating through classrooms, concerts, and celebrations for generations to come.

Sol y Luna Foundation

Peru

In Peru’s Sacred Valley, access to education is far from guaranteed—especially in rural Urubamba, where many children receive only primary-level instruction, if any at all. The Sol y Luna Foundation changes that, providing schooling, health care, meals, and support services for children and their families. Through the Slow Fund, B&R is sponsoring the full tuition of one student in the 2026 academic year, ensuring access to quality education and brighter opportunities for a child who might otherwise go without.

HUSK: Softies Project

Cambodia

Founded in 2008, HUSK works to improve the lives of Cambodian families through education, health, and empowerment. Its Softies Project trains women from the poorest households in sewing, enabling them to create toys and clothing to sell, on the condition that their children remain in school. With a $5,000 contribution from The Slow Fund, B&R is helping the Softies Women expand their skills and product line, building new sources of income while ensuring the next generation has access to education.

African Parks

Africa

In response to the pandemic’s impact on Africa’s conservation funding, which has long relied on tourism, the Slow Fund has partnered with African Parks to support critical conservation efforts. The Slow Fund aids specific parks across Africa, ensuring the protection of invaluable ecosystems. African Parks, a non-profit organization, manages and restores protected areas across the continent. Supporting thriving ecological assets? It also supports crucial economic assets. We’re thrilled to support both.
