YOU’RE CHEERING LOUD FOR THE BULLDOGS,

thousands of eyes are glued to a single ball, and you watch Butler sink a winning shot in the last minute of a game. It’s a surreal experience, being surrounded by your classmates decked head-to-toe in Butler blue, witnessing a historic victory unfold. And next year, you could be part of it. What really makes the Dawgs great isn’t our two national championship runs, historic Hinkle Fieldhouse, or the BIG EAST Conference. It’s how we play—The Butler Way. It means we always put team above self. It means working hard in the classroom and in the gym, even when no one’s watching. It keeps us in the game (even when we’re dog-tired) and passing to the open man rather than taking a contested shot of our own. Across every sport, we let our play do the talking—and the way we play speaks volumes.

The delicate wave of a ballerina’s arm, an entire choir singing in harmony, a classic play performed live on stage—these are the kinds of artistic expression that can enlighten us, inspire us, and move us to tears. Butler is at the center of Indianapolis’ thriving arts and cultural community. Located in the heart of campus, the Butler Arts and Events Center and Clowes Memorial Hall is a home for passion, innovation, and the highest caliber of student and professional performances. On any given night, you might see professional Broadway shows; student productions by Butler Ballet, Theatre, and School of Music; art exhibitions; or a speech by a Nobel or Pulitzer Prize winner. There’s always something to entertain, engage, and inspire you. Off campus and around Indy, you’ll find an exciting local arts and food scene. From internationally acclaimed museums to intimate music venues and theatres, film festivals to street fairs, farm-to-table restaurants to taco trucks, you’ll experience a city that opens your mind and sparks your imagination.

EVERYONE.

College life can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a challenge. Late nights, hard work, unfamiliar situations—they all add up. At Butler, we emphasize the importance of health and well-being, and give you access to the resources you need to make your next four years your best four years. Through many services within Student Affairs and our campus partners, we guide students to make smart, healthy decisions and to help one another succeed from the moment they set foot on campus, through Commencement, and beyond.

diversity, equity, and inclusion

As part of the Core Curriculum, all students will take at least one academic course related to social justice and diversity. This course teaches students to identify and explain the causes and impact of privilege, power, and oppression while recognizing the multiple intersecting dimensions of identity and inequity. Outside of academics, the Efroymson Diversity Center (known as the “DC” around campus), is a resource for students that offers programs, student organizations, and plenty of opportunities to enrich the educational experience. The DC’s programs challenge students to think critically, engage in a diverse campus environment, and further their academic and personal development. The Center for Faith and Vocation (CFV) is another on-campus resource committed to providing a space for students to live a life of purpose. This Center supports students, faculty, and staff—whether you identify as a person of faith, a dedicated questioner, or someone who hopes to use college as a time to explore your own passions.
