Advancing Butler From the desk of Tom Borrego Executive Director

February 2020—VOL 7— Issue Seven

On February 6 the Foundation sponsored master flutist Galen Abdur-Razzaq, in partnership with the Black Student Association and the Student Government Association, to come to the El Dorado campus to perform and speak about the history of jazz and the Civil Rights movement. This Black History Month presentation was made possible as part of the Harold Smith Cultural Series that the Foundation sponsors every other year.

Vocal Music hosted their second annual music theatre choral festival on January 29. Area high school students are invited to attend the festival to work with faculty and guests. The day consists of preparing choral musical selections as well as learning from performance industry professionals. During the last 30 minutes of the day, the students performed a final showcase alongside Butler choirs.
