February 2018—VOL 6— Issue One

Two professors are honored for their exemplary work in teaching at the community college level. Each year, faculty and staff nominate one adjunct and one full-time professor for the prestigious John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award. This year’s winners are Darren Bentley and Nathan Swink, Ph.D. A specially cast pewter medallion will be presented to each at the Innovations Conference in National Harbor, MD in March. Swink (pictured on the right), a psychology professor, has taught at Butler since 2014. Bentley (pictured on the left), has served as an adjunct science instructor at Butler for more than a dozen years. We are proud of our outstanding faculty!

Advance Kansas Class X will host the most members ever selected for Advance Kansas class—46! This tenth class of the diversity leadership program brings together business and community leaders from across the region. With support from Spirit AeroSystems, Westar Energy, and Meritrust Credit Union, Class X will focus on priorities identified by members of a Wichita Regional Chamber of Commerce CEO roundtable. The class will develop projects to address the area’s human capital challenge as it relates to diversity and inclusion.
