December 2019—VOL 7— Issue Six

In October we recognized the incredible generosity that makes everything we do possible. The President’s Donor Dinner is our recognition event that features our donors who have reached new annual or lifetime giving levels. 2019 Hubbard Award of Excellence winner Claudia Hess was our guest speaker—what a delight! Bill and Teri Rinkenbaugh were presented with the Dr. Larry and Judy Abraham Grizzlybacker of the Year Award. Dr. Greg Joyce was presented with the Foundation Award for Distinguished Service to Butler Community College. Seventy donors were recognized for their annual giving and 24 donors were recognized for their lifetime giving including Dr. Abraham who became our fifth member of the $1 million Hubbard Society. What an incredible achievement!

Fifty-five new members were recently inducted to

Phi Theta Kappa, the community college honor society. Butler has a fivestar chapter—a high honor in itself. Phi Theta Kappa upholds four hallmarks for students to abide by; scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. Students must have a minimum 3.5 GPA from at least 12 credit hours of 100-level classes or higher. Congratulations to some of Butler’s best and brightest!

DID YOU KNOW? Both the college and the

Foundation are closed for Winter Break between December 23 and January 1. It is as important to us as it is to you that you receive appropriate acknowledgment for 2019 gifts. For that reason, any gift we receive upon return that is postmarked 2019 will be acknowledged for that tax year.

Are you 70 1/2 years of age with an IRA? The end of the calendar year is rapidly approaching and there is no better time to think about giving a year end gift to your favorite non-profit. Donors who qualify to give their mandatory IRA disbursement simply inform their wealth manager. It’s a win-win for the donor: the money is not taxable income and you receive the tax write-off!
