80 Days Butler Benefit Auction Friday, March 6, 2020

Dear Friends, Welcome to our 23rd annual benefit auction! On behalf of everyone at Butler, and especially the students who will benefit from the money we raise tonight, thank you for being here and for changing lives with your generosity. We are fortunate to enjoy the kindness of so many incredible donors who recognize Butler’s unique value. Your gifts tonight support the Foundation, enabling us to ensure the brightest future for the college, our students, and their families. With your help, scholarship dollars continue to grow. This academic year, the Foundation will award close to $1,000,000 in scholarships and other support to the college to benefit students. This year’s theme, Around the World in 80 Days, is inspired by the classic adventure novel in which Phileas Fogg bets half his fortune he can travel around the world in 80 days and ultimately does so, accompanied by his loyal servant Jean Passepartout. Students come to Butler from all walks of life. Their journeys, like that of Fogg and Passepartout, are often complicated by obstacles. Many students struggle to balance school, work, family, and other responsibilities. With your gifts, you help them find their way. You ease their burdens and help them stay in college, focused on academics. You enable them to work fewer hours, afford more classes and, most importantly, to reach their destinations and achieve their goals. I extend a heartfelt thanks to our honorary chairs, Lance and Lisa Lechtenberg, for their steadfast leadership and to all the sponsors, volunteers, donors, faculty, students, and staff who collectively make this evening exciting and successful year after year. Each of you play an important role in inspiring, empowering, and transforming student lives and we are tremendously grateful for your generosity and belief in Butler. Enjoy the evening, Dr. Kimberly Krull President, Butler Community College

Honorary Chairs

Lisa & Lance Lechtenberg Welcome to the 2020 Butler Benefit Auction. It is an honor to serve as your honorary chairs for this rewarding charitable event. It is a pleasure to be part of something so special. This evening will be filled with good food, friends, colleagues, and generous bidding. We became actively involved at Butler almost a decade ago. Each of us have held different positions at the college anywhere from being a member of the Foundation Board of Directors to head volleyball coach to trustee. Through these positions we see firsthand the impact Foundation scholarships have on a student which motivated us to establish an endowed scholarship. We believe in the value of an affordable education to help prepare students to become productive members of our community. Butler Community College touches countless students and families. Each one of you here tonight have had or will have an impact on a student. Your support and belief in Butler is greatly appreciated not only by the students but by all of those involved with the college. Enjoy the evening and remember YOU can make a difference!
