Advancing Butler From the desk of Tom Borrego Executive Director
August 2020—VOL 8— Issue Four
We are so excited to be back on campus! All employees returned to work on campus August 3. While we are elated to be back where we belong to serve you and students best, we know that the continued pandemic requires us all to be extremely flexible. As was proven in March when the world turned upside down, Butler is well-placed to adjust to unexpected situations. With the combined effort of students, faculty, staff, donors, alumni, and the community, we will persevere! If you have any questions about how the college is prepared for employees and students to return, please visit butlercc.edu/coronavirus for the most up -to-date information regarding our safety implementation. As always, feel welcome to call or email with any questions!
Research Office Wins State Award
Our Office of Research and Institutional Effectiveness received the Kansas Board of Regents Data Quality Award for the second time. Butler is one of only three Kansas institutions who have won the award more than once. Associate Vice President Dr. Esam Mohammad leads our research office.
DID YOU KNOW? In response to workforce demand,
Business Education Training Analysis (BETA) has partnered with CSC, Inc. to bring CDL Class A, Class B, and Department of Transportation (DOT) training to the region.
Student Publications Receive Awards Though the annual Kansas Collegiate Media Conference in Wichita was canceled this spring, Butler’s student publications, “The Grizzly” magazine and “Butler Lantern” newspaper received 22 awards between the two. Students are advised by Amy Chastain (Butler Lantern) and Mike Swan (The Grizzly). Students won 14 of the 22 awards on individual articles they wrote, designed, or edited. Way to go to these determined media students!
