We recently welcomed two new board directors!

Retired nursing faculty Janice Jones and ICI President Ryan Murry have joined the Foundation Board of Directors. It is a thrill to have two additional stellar community members be part of our governing body. Both volunteers have a long history of giving to the college and volunteering on its behalf. We welcome their expertise and insight; they are wonderful additions to our thoughtful and progressive Board of Directors. Welcome, Ryan and Janice!

Representative Roger Marshall visited Butler in July.

Marshall, pictured in the middle, and his wife Laina donated an autographed copy of “The Congressional Club Cookbook,” 2005 edition, to be sold at the Butler Benefit Auction in March 2019.

Representative Marshall and Laina are both Butler alumni.

Meet our new Fine Arts dean!

Rick Nichols, DMA, MBA has joined our ranks as the dean of Fine Arts and Communication.

Nichols comes to us from Sterling College and brings vast musical experience and has played French horn for the United States Army Band, Sarasota Orchesta, and more. Welcome, Rick!

DID YOU KNOW? The El Dorado campus library is named after L.W. Nixon who taught at Butler from 19291967. Nixon taught classes ranging from literature to psychology to speech. Since 1986, the Foundation has awarded the Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Nixon Scholarship in memory of these two champions of Butler.

Norma Johnson established a scholarship in October 2017 in memory of her late husband Bill who was a lifelong Butler County resident, set the El Dorado High School record for the 220-yard dash that still hasn’t been broken, and participated in collegiate track at Butler and Kansas State University. The Bill Johnson Track Scholarship benefits a track or cross country student transferring to a four-year school.
