Wij zijn kwaad want onze Vlaammingo is lek en de rugzak hangt scheef. Onze slaven zijn opstandig, het is weer die tijd van het jaar. Laten weten dat het anders gaat blijkt teveel gevraagd. Een veel te vlugge Gerrie wordt door een slimme camera toch nog geschoten. Tast toe op de tosti, of je worst lust. Dans op het Ding of voel je Fresia. Frysland ligt schuin aan de overkant, een stripper is op But geland. Met een Bank of vijftien is er voldoende plaats. Wij worden gebakken in de zon terwijl studenten de stad terroriseren en het Butgebied langzaam ontoegankelijk maken. De gangen worden steeds smaller. Ik ben geen camera, wordt genomen op de zoveelste verdieping voor de zoveelste maal, tegen het raam aan, keihard. Ik ben ook geen foto, die worden nooit zo hard genomen. Lieve roze Vlaammingo’s, wangen worden zelden toegekeerd. Terugslaan biedt meer
voldoening, meer vergelding en meer mentale mijlen. Hij gaat steeds rapper, zijn bundel verschijnt eind oktober. De verkeerde kant is overbelicht in regenbogen, wij zijn er. Behoefte gestraft te worden na het toegeven aan dadendrang, typisch Klontenservice. Alles kapot, last van de chroomkast, tunnelvisie zonder onderbroek. De batterij is multifunctioneel. Te veel bloedsporen, te veel afwas en dat allemaal dames onder één dak. Stickers stellen uit elkaar vallen uit. Het schrijven verdrijven met dansen op techno en de pleuris. Instagram vertegenwoordigt het trieste gedrag van de ongelukkige volwassen vrouw. Totale abstinentie wordt aanbevolen. Ze heeft teveel bier op, deze heeft geen tieten en wordt geghost. We doen de shorts uit en de film aan, straks speelt er een bandje. Druk op plee, als je het haalt….

RJ van Cinematig en ik gingen naar een café, het was mooi weer, dus we gingen binnen zitten. We gingen praten over Cinematig op het BUTFF. Oftewel CCCP, wat staat voor ‘Cinematig Crack Cinema Programma’. We bestelden koffie, hij wou graag een kleine maar het was in een vet groot kopje, echt raar. RJ liet foto’s zien van mannen die ze gepijpt hadden ofzo, begreep het niet echt maar het was wel een leuke foto en ze hadden allemaal raar spul in hun snor. Hij liet nog meer foto’s zien van mannen in rare pakjes en zijn vrienden die dingen deden op eerdere edities van BUT, het was allemaal met bier en 1 keer met koffie in de hand. Daarna was het tijd om eens te praten over waarvoor we gekomen waren, namelijk over het CCCP programma van Cinematig. Erg leuk feitje: Cinematig (4 jongens die slechte films vertonen met bier erbij) is ontstaan omdat ze BUT zo kut inspirerend vonden dat ze dat zelf ook wouden verspreiden en het was ook nog gelukt. Dit gebeurde in het noorden van Nederland voor het eerst. Toen werden BUT en Cinematig dikke vrienden en gaven ze elkaar films enzo. Ook mocht Cinematig eens iets doen tijdens het online vertonen van film, Cinebut+, dan deden ze beiden iets en dat was hartstikke leuk maar wel kutfilms. Daarna vertelde RJ een leuk verhaal over dat ze ruzie kregen met een man tijdens een film over seks met kinderen en dat Jan Doense erbij was. (de Godfather van de matige films) Hoe het afloopt weet ik niet want volgens mij heeft die RJ ADHD ofzo en ging het opeens over een man in een dinosaurus pak met Whoopie Goldberg en handtekeningen van Jan Doense die dat ook hartstikke grappig vond maar vooral de Cinematig jongens vonden dit hartstikke grappig en zelfs nu nog vond RJ ‘t super grappig. Ik snapte het niet maar zei maar wel ’’haha’’ voordat ie boos zou worden.
De Cinematig jongens mochten ook een keer een film presenteren die ze hadden gegeven aan BUT en toen deed Alex superstom tegen de jongens. ‘’echt niet leuk, want het was een hele leuke film, ik weet niet meer welke het was maar het publiek vond het superleuk en Alex niet maar we kregen wel gratis bier daarna’’ Daarna ging RJ alweer over dinosaurussen praten en dat ik echt Velocipastor moest zien en dat ie me zou vermoorden als ik dat niet deed en dat ik dan ook raar spul in m’n snor zou krijgen, maar ik heb niet eens een snor. Het CCCP programma is te zien op het plein op vrijdag en zaterdag om 21:00, ga kijken! Het is erg leuk en je kan ook bier drinken en naar de markt enzo, dus ja, waarom niet. Groeten Gabrielle
Derde Klasse van de But gerukt Zij vertrokken maandagmorgen om half zes. Gepest door stakingen en buschauffeurs gingen zij het avontuur aan. Gewapend met een fles bessensap die gedoemd is in scherven gegooid worden. Na 7 maal overstappen stopt het tellen. Grappen met slapende medereizigers blijken te veel moeite. Snurken is meuren. Zij hebben elkaar en de tijd, slapen met knoflook tegen vampiers. Als zij eindelijk denken bevrijd te zijn van hun vertraging worden zij getart door de afwezigheid van een beloofde bus. De verleiding oorlog te ontketenen treedt op. Frieten drukken deze verleidingen de kop in, de magen beleven een welbehagen. 23,7 Uur later verschijnt er een bus met één zitplaats te weinig voor de groep. Wie offert zich op? Bekvechten op de halte resulteert in een extra zitplaats, dan maar zo op reis. Aangekomen bij de herberg leeft Spiderman en de knoflook blijft ‘s nachts gehandhaafd. Muggen camoufleren de aanwezigheid van de spin, zij zijn met teveel. De reizigers hebben fietsen gekocht en passen hun taal aan. Zij zijn geen toeristen, zij scharen zich onder de lokalen. Een Butzoeker op een bushalte stelt zich bloot en wordt herkend door de reizigers. Een Parijziger op het Butpad verdwaald tijdens de staking in een wanhopige poging het But Film Festival te bereiken. Zij zijn intussen bekend geraakt en ingeburgerd in de directe nabijheid van het festival en omstreken.

Ryan’s ramblings The Bold and the Beautiful
So the next question is a great one that I debate all the time: Does the boldness in film and music have to come out of the underground? In a word: yes! In three words: it always has. Let’s start with music. Whether you are talking about new forms of jazz or folk in the late-forties and fifties, popular rock in the sixties, or psychedelic and metal in the sixties into the early-seventies, or punk rock at the end of the seventies, or hip hop in the early-eighties; regardless of the period or style, it always started in the underground. And it was always a direct response to whatever was going on in the mainstream at the time. It has been the same story decade after decade. The major labels find some new sound that is starting to swell in the underground and they figure out how to mass-market it. Then the bands that just want fame try to adjust their sound to sound like that – and the bandwagon begins. Very quickly, we get overdosed with that sound coming from every single label and it’s all over the charts. And then, around that time, a group of new musicians start some counterculture sound in the underground and the cycle begins again.* And it has been the same with film; with Italian neorealism in the late-forties, French new wave in the late-fifties, Hong Kong action cinema and the new filmmakers storming the gates of Hollywood in the late-sixties into in the seventies.** Major studios find upcoming directors starting to gain notoriety and who revitalise their worn out formulas by borrowing from such movements. Perhaps the boldest director of all, owing his whole body of work to such movements, is — ofcourse — Quentin Tarantino, who is mass-marketing his own stilted pastiche for three decades now.*** However, times are changing and the underground as well. Going by the state of contemporary popular culture, we now need the underground more than ever. Tomorrow, I will go on to tell you exactly why.
