One of Duterte’s spokesmen, Peter T. Laviña, told reporters during a news conference in Davao City in May that the inauguration rites would be kept “simple and frugal.” About 150 people would be invited to attend the event. That was the original intention. The plan has changed since then. Reports said up to 500 guests will be invited to the President-
elect’s inauguration. As of this writing, more than 600 people are now on the guest list for Duterte’s inauguration, a huge jump from the original target number of 150. This was revealed by Martin Andanar, the incoming communications secretary, during a news conference in Davao City recently.
