PROPOSED bridge connecting the municipality of Caticlan in Aklan to Boracay Island may lead to higher visitor arrivals to the popular white beach destination, but the downside could be a loss of local jobs and further degradation of the environment.

Teo and tourism advocate Ivan Anthony Henares, after reports surfaced that San Miguel Corp., operator of the Caticlan Airport, was planning to build a 1.9-kilometer road between the two destinations.
