Every 4 years, a selected country hosts a series of competitions between many nations. This event is called the Olympics, and it has grown from 14 nations attending to more than 120. The Olympics have gone on to become a contest with numerous other sections, such as the Winter, Summer, and Youth Olympics. Yet no matter what, it has always been a subject surrounded by immense controversy, coverage, and opinions.

During the 9-16 days of the Olympics, a variety of challenges are met, with athletes setting and breaking various world records. The competitions are intense, and the end results shower praises and fame onto the winners, symbolized by a medal that weighs heavily on hearts watching all over the world.

These flashy moments are likely the most known subject regarding the Olympics. However, the artistic aspect of the opening and closing ceremonies are something to be mentioned. The designs require many creative minds to provide viewing enjoyment, and careful preparation leading up towards the

Olympics. For example, a notable moment of this year’s Olympics (held in Beijing, China) would be the sheer amount of incredibility, which involved top-notch A.I crafting, a lot of practice from the choir, and much detail.

Another part that makes these designs so jaw-dropping are the bubbly themes, different every new country. The mascots of each Olympic are unique and colourful, most of all easy to be remembered for ages on. Misha, the 1980 Russian mascot, grew to international fame, as millions of people worldwide gushed at the softness of the bear. Sumi, of the 2010 Paralympics, garnered praise for its design. So much more aspects of the arts have made the Olympics a wondrous sight for many to see. And certainly, these designs will be remembered for ages.

The Olympics are an event that is broadcasted globally, yet there should be more attention to the artistic designs. Throughout different time periods, there has always been a need for more focus on the art aspect. The artists outdo themselves each year, and the next Olympics will surely be another wonderful experience for the eyes. BL.
