Internships in Insurance, Other Relevant Work Experience, or Relevant Insurance Industry Involvement

I have an actuarial internship for the upcoming summer with Zurich in Schaumburg, IL on the property/casualty side of the industry.. This spring, however, I was a part of the ICC project researching “Factors Affecting Liability Claims Variability,” and last year a partner and I won the Tableau Visual Analytics Competition for Business Insights.

Insurance Licensing and Professional Designations Exam Parts Completed or Passed

I have passed actuarial exams Financial Math and Probability, as well as the exam for the first online CAS course: Risk Management and Insurance Operations.

Community Involvement During College

Midwest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, street clean-ups, writing cards for military members and their families, and tying blankets for animal shelters, Spread the Magic, Indy-pendence Service Dogs, and Student Environmental Action Coalition

Other Campus Involvement and Personal Accomplishments

I am a General Officer this year and will be Secretary/Treasurer next year for the Actuarial Club. As an extension of the club, I am a mentor to students who are new to the actuarial program; additionally, I tutor a group for MAT 280 (Financial Mathematics). This spring, I got involved with the actuarial-oriented ICC industry project mentioned above. I am also employed by ISU as a TA Grader for IT 356. I am a member of University Band on campus.

Career Goals

Academically, pass the three online CAS courses, as well as MAS-I and MAS-II before I graduate. Eventually become a fellow of the CAS. In the meantime, build my technical skills with coding languages and other software. Professionally, earn another internship and secure a job before I graduate. Be the best person, student, and professional that I can be.
