Internships in Insurance, other Relevant work Experience or Relevant Insurance Industry Involvement

I was a Gallagher sales intern during the summer of 2021. Public and Nonprofit, Aviation, Specialty Lines, and Commercial Lines were some of the lines that I was able to learn during my time with Gallagher. I was also a WSIA Intern during the summer of 2022 with Great American Insurance Group and Burns and Wilcox. During my time with these companies, I was able to learn more about the Excess and Surplus lines industry and learn what I wanted to do after college! It was a very rewarding internship, and I couldn’t have been more thankful to have found and learned about WSIA through the Katie School. I have also accepted a position with Markel as an Underwriting Trainee starting in the summer of 2023! Looking forward to the future!

Insurance Licensing and Professional Designations—Exam Parts Completed or Passed

I have successfully obtained the 2 CPCU waivers by completing and passing FIL 350 and FIL 355 with a B or higher.

Community Involvement During College

First, I will talk about the Midwest Food Bank. I have been actively donating to and helping the Midwest food bank through multiple organizations here on campus throughout my college career. I have also volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield in the past which was an awesome opportunity, and I cannot wait do it again in the future. I have also been actively giving back to military family’s by writing them cards through Gamma Iota Sigma.

Other Campus Involvement and Personal Accomplishments

I achieved 1st place in Gallagher’s Regional Sales Competition in the summer of 2021. I was also selected to attend the WSIA Annual Marketplace in San Diego California as a top 10 intern in the program. I had an awesome experience shadowing Brokers and Underwriters for 3 days and learning much more about the industry. I am heavily involved in Delta Sigma Pi (Professional Business Fraternity) which I have been a part of since the Fall of 2019. I have also been involved with Business week as both a Mentee and a Mentor over my time at ISU. Both have been rewarding experiences, but I truly enjoyed being a mentor to an underclassman and being able to walk them through a few helpful tips that I have learned throughout my time at ISU!

Career Goals

Some career goals that I have include obtaining my CPCU and multiple other insurance designations, along with becoming a senior underwriter and then eventually becoming a manager.
