A Forest Grove resident is organizing an anti-pipeline event with an athletic twist. Philippe Filiatreault is hosting the Burnaby Trans Mountain Run and Walk for Change, where local residents can gather to learn about the pipeline expansion and challenge themselves to a run. “This is really an opportunity for people to get together, go for a walk and show their unity,” Filiatreault told the NOW. “There’s a significant voice opposed to the pipeline project for a variety of reasons, whether it’s climate change or safety on Burnaby Mountain.” Filiatreault works as a digital media consultant and lives in the Pine Ridge Housing Co-op, close to the pipeline. The run will be on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Forest Grove neighbourhood. The meet-

Burnaby Mounties believe they are getting closer to finding the man responsible for a trio of sexual assaults at the beginning of the month.

The local force said it has received tips from the public since warning residents last week about the assaults in the Edmonds area. “We’re making progress on the case,” Burnaby RCMP Sgt. Derek

Thibodeau told the NOW, adding there hasn’t been any incidents since last week. Police are still asking anyone with information to call the local detachment. The first two alleged assaults, which were 20 min-

utes apart, were reported on Sept. 1.The women said they were walking along Mary Avenue and 16th Street when an unknown man approached them from behind and pulled their pants down to the ground. When the

women turned around, the suspect took off on foot. The description of the suspect was similar in both cases. The suspect was described as a mediumskinned man in his late teens to early 20s, stand-
