“Jade: The Eternal Treasure of Ancient China”
For over 8,000 years, jade has held a sacred place in Chinese culture, revered not just for its beauty but as a symbol of virtue, power, and immortality. Unlike other civilizations that prized gold, ancient Chinese artisans carved this luminous stone into intricate ritual objects, ornaments, and burial artefacts, believing it embodied cosmic harmony and divine protection. From the enigmatic “bi” discs of the Neolithic Liangzhu culture to the exquisite carvings of the Qing Dynasty, each piece tells a story of craftsmanship and spiritual devotion. Discover how jade shaped China’s history-and why it remains an enduring emblem of elegance and eternity.
Xie Zhimeng, known by his English name “Mongo,” is a passionate collector and researcher of ancient Chinese jade artifacts from Dongguan, Guangdong, China. He has authored multiple books on the subject, firmly believing that the artistry of Chinese jade represents a treasure for all humanity.
This exhibition brings together a remarkable collection of representative ancient Chinese jade pieces from Xie Zhimeng and his fellow collectors. Their shared mission is to promote global appreciation for the exquisite beauty and cultural significance of Chinese jade craftsmanship.
