CEEH Doctoral Scholarship in Spanish Art-Historical Studies at The Courtauld Institute, London The Courtauld is delighted to announce the creation of a fullyfunded doctoral scholarship in Spanish art-historical studies, commencing at The Courtauld in October 2019. The scholarship will cover The Courtauld’s Home/EU/International tuition fees for three years (or four if required), together with an annual stipend of £12,000 for living costs and travel. Applicants are advised to send prospective supervisors a 300-word proposal, CV, and sample of written work in English well before the application deadline of 11 January 2019. They must demonstrate that Spanish art, architecture or visual culture forms the focus of their proposed research topic, which should also fall within the proposed supervisor’s areas of research expertise. Applicants should submit The Courtauld Scholarship application form together with their PhD application. See http://courtauld.ac.uk/study/phd-research for further information. King’s College, Cambridge announces the Nigel Glendinning Doctoral Studentship in Spanish Studies: Art and Literature of 17th and 18th century Spain. Funding is available for a three- to four- year course of study, commencing in academic year 2019/2020. Candidates must apply to the University of Cambridge to study either at the Department of History of Art, the Department of Spanish and Portuguese (Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages), or the Faculty of History and must put King’s College, Cambridge as their first-choice college. The successful candidate will be selected by the College. Candidates are encouraged to apply to the appropriate department or faculty by 8 February 2019. Funding will be sufficient to cover tuition, fees and maintenance costs, plus an annual allowance for research and travel. In addition, funding is available for a conference, hosted at King’s College, in Year 3. Zurbarán Doctoral Scholarship for the Study of Spanish Art
Trinity College Dublin and the Centro de Estudios Europa Hispánica are delighted to announce the creation of a Doctoral Scholarship for the Study of Spanish Art in memory of Rosemarie Mulcahy (19422012), whose teaching and research career focused on Renaissance Spain, and who wrote the catalogue of Spanish Paintings in the National Gallery of Ireland (1988).
The Zurbarán Centre for Spanish and Latin American Art is pleased to invite applications for a fully funded doctoral scholarship in Spanish art-historical studies, commencing at Durham University in the academic year 2019/20. The scholarship will be devoted to art-historical projects on Spanish art of the Golden Age and/or its legacy in Britain and/or Europe up to the 19th century. It is tenable for three years full-time or five years part-time. The successful candidate will enjoy privileged access to the Spanish Gallery at The Auckland Project in Bishop Auckland, which houses one of the most remarkable collections of Spanish art in the UK.
Fully funded by the CEEH, the Scholarship will be tenable for a maximum of four years full-time from the academic year 2019-20. Applicants should demonstrate that the art of Spain 1450-1750 is central to their proposed research, which will be supervised by members of staff in the Department of History of Art and Architecture of Trinity College Dublin. Ideally, the research project should involve study of the collections of Spanish art held in the National Gallery of Ireland. The application deadline is 31 March 2019.
