ADMISSIONS FACTS HOW DO I APPLY? Interested families can apply through our online application system, Ravenna, which is located on our website. Here you will find a menu of admissions events and opportunities to connect with the school community. DO YOU HAVE A BIRTHDAY CUT-OFF DATE FOR KINDERGARTEN APPLICANTS? Yes. Students must be five years old by September 1 of their Kindergarten year to apply for Kindergarten. While some younger children may be developmentally ready for a Kindergarten program, Burke’s has established this cut-off date to minimize the age disparity in our classes. HOW MANY OPENINGS DO YOU HAVE? Our goal each year is to enroll 45 Kindergarten students into three sections of Kindergarten. Spaces in grades other than Kindergarten are dependent upon attrition. WHERE DO BURKE’S FAMILIES LIVE? Our student body comes from more than 40 zip codes from all over the San Francisco Bay Area. While a majority of our families live in San Francisco, we have families commuting from the North Bay, Peninsula and East Bay areas. WHERE IS THE SCHOOL LOCATED? Katherine Delmar Burke School is located on a 3.5-acre campus in the Outer Richmond/Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco, near the corner of California Street and 32nd Avenue, next to the Lincoln Park Golf Course.

DOES BURKE’S ACCEPT TRANSFER STUDENTS? Yes. While our main entry point is Kindergarten, families are invited to apply for 1st-7th grades as well. Students will be enrolled based on the number of seats that become available after re-enrollment. DOES BURKE’S OFFER AFTER-SCHOOL CHILDCARE AND PROGRAMS? Yes. Extended care is available for all Burke’s students. In the morning, we offer extended care from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Afternoon extended care (called Tree House) is offered for Lower School students daily from dismissal to 6 p.m. and consists of supervised indoor and outdoor play and projects. Upper School students may stay on campus until 6 p.m. to get assistance with homework in Study Tree. We also offer enrichment classes in trimester sessions through the After-School Enrichment Program (ASEP). Classes may include offerings such as movement, drama, ceramics and music lessons among others. Students can take ASEP classes in addition to participating in Tree House and Study Tree.
