The School to Home Online Connection
Dear Father Ryan Family, Mission Statement As a Catholic diocesan high school, Father Ryan’s mission is to be an experience of the living Gospel while challenging students to reach their spiritual, academic, and personal potential.
Vision Statement Father Ryan seeks to be a superior Catholic high school, providing excellence in religious and moral formation, academics, athletics, and the arts while remaining accessible to those seeking an education in the Catholic Tradition.
Welcome back to Father Ryan for the 2012-2013 school year! My name is Michael La Haie and I am the new Dean of Students. I am very excited to be at Father Ryan, as I have always wanted to be part of this community since I moved to Nashville in 1993. Over the years I have participated in many events at Father Ryan, including Math Day as a teacher at Holy Rosary Academy and St. Ann School, as well as attending diocesan workshops and other meetings on campus. My son, Andrew, graduated from Father Ryan in 2009. During his time here, I got to know many parents, faculty and staff members. My wife, Mary, and I also have a daughter, Sara, a 2011 graduate of St. Cecilia Academy. We are members of St. Henry parish and last year we enjoyed our first year as “empty-nesters.” During the last seven years, I have been the Dean of Student Affairs at St. Cecilia Academy. In my role at SCA, I monitored and guided the school climate and supervised student safety, security, attendance and discipline. I also managed the school calendar, reviewed and updated the parent/student handbook and assisted with PowerSchool management as well as supervising the athletic director, the activities director, the personal counselor and the dining hall manager. Finally, I was the administrative contact between the school and the Parents’ Association. I accepted the position as Dean of Students at FRHS knowing how important this role is at any school and also knowing the Dean of Students is not always the most popular person on campus. I will work hard to gain the trust of students, parents, faculty and staff by being honest and consistent in all areas of service. I plan to be present to the students daily in the hallways of the academic building, the library, the theater, the cloister building, the dining hall, the athletic complex and the parking lots. I know so many parents through St. Henry, St. Cecilia, and being a member of the Diocese of Nashville for the past 19 years. I look forward to meeting you all in my role as Dean of Students, and I look forward to getting to know your children. If there is anything I can do to help you or your child, please don’t hesitate to call or email me. Sincerely, Michael La Haie Dean of Students lahaiem@fatherryan.org
